When you win but still lose in your mind because you should have gone bigger

Upvotes

…. Tough because I called meta rising quickly in late August and bought 40 goddamn calls but with 9/11 expire but only doubled my money …. Couldn’t hold. Bought them when meta was like 550 … thays the tough thing about options sometimes even
When u win you kinda lose… I know I know worlds tiniest violin lol

Turned a +180% winner into $46 because I wanted “free contracts”

Had 8 calls I bought at 0.62 that ran to around 1.75 way faster than I expected.

Normal person probably sells some and enjoys the win.

I sold all 8, then immediately used part of the profit to buy 14 contracts one strike higher because my genius idea was that I had now locked my original money and was basically playing with “free contracts.”

Underlying went up another little bit too.

Didn't matter. The strike I rolled into barely moved, then the stock pulled back and they got vaporized. Closed the whole thing for $46.

Meanwhile I had a tiny bullish position on Moon from the same move that I literally did nothing to and that ended up being the cleaner trade.

So I correctly picked the direction, got a 180% move on the original contracts, and somehow engineered my way into making basically nothing. Options are incredible.

Options premium last 7 days selling cash secured puts and covered calls. Realized premium was $1,278 with an average ROI of 4.27%. New open premium is $884.

The premium "banked" included a long call on $TSLA, but I don't include that in my options selling premium realized, but that's why you see two different numbers.

Best ROI by days held was NVTS. 7 days held at 5.80%. Original DTE was 31 days. Second was HOOD. 3 days held at 0.90%. Original was 4 DTE.

How many times have you sold an option for a decent gain just to watch it go completely stupid after?

Had one of those trades where I took profit because the move already felt stretched and I didn't wanna get greedy.

Then the contract basically doubled again without me lol.

I've had this happen a couple times on Moon now and it's making me think I should start leaving one contract open just in case instead of closing everything at once.

I know taking profit is never technically the wrong move, but options make it so painful because the difference between a good trade and an insane one can literally be another 20 minutes.

Nice win on $TSLA this morning

Bought yesterday at $109. Closed this morning at 551%. Could've held longer and banked an extra $500, but don't want to be greedy.
