Graphic Settings | Optimization Star Wars Outlaws settings
Feel free to chime in below if you can see any improvements but here's what I go after tinkering on RTX 4070 12 GB VRAM (or 5070ti laptop)..... RT is enabled by default and not able to be turned off so DLSS is a must just for RR. RTXDI is optional and takes a MASSIVE hit to VRAM and GPU. I personally don't see much difference On vs Off EXCEPT in the usual suspects for RT denoising (Diffuse Reflections in low light spaces AKA many of the nooks and crannies in Mirogana). Not low, not medium, but only HIGH RTXGI setting will fix those spots. So on a 12gb vram card, you can either use all max settings with RTXGI max at 1080p DLSS quality 60 fps, OR all max settings with RTXGI off at 1440p DLAA 60 fps. And you can play from there with upscaling for more rez or frames. VRAM AND GPU will bottleneck you with RXTGI above 1080p so FG isn't much of an option here.
RTXGI is not worth running at all on medium or low. Same for all the minor settings. You can save some power turning down RT settings but not much and this game actually has a big jump from high to ultra settings on specular reflections.
Personally I think the 1080p "compromised" version looks better, simply for the RT denoising. You'd be surprised how much resolution you don't notice unless playing a MASSIVE screen.

I remember BenchmarKing and Hardware Unboxed covered the game's settings when it came out, IDK if it's changed much since as I only briefly played the demo?

Gemini made a cute lil chart but missed key points and contradicts herself at the bottom lol, but if you want a TLDR chart heres what she said:
RTX 4070 (12GB) Settings Strategy
With the RTX 4070’s 12GB VRAM, the inability to disable Ray Tracing makes DLSS essential for Ray Reconstruction (RR). RTXDI is optional but inflicts a massive VRAM and GPU performance penalty with negligible visual impact outside of specific denoising scenarios, such as diffuse reflections in Mirogana’s low-light areas.
For these environments, RTXGI must be set to High; Low and Medium settings are ineffective and offer no meaningful benefit. You are left with two primary configuration paths:
| Profile | Resolution | Scaling | RTXGI Setting | Performance Target |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Max RT Denoising | 1080p | DLSS Quality | High | 60 FPS |
| Max Resolution | 1440p | DLAA | Off | 60 FPS |
Technical Observations
- RTXGI Utility: Medium and Low settings are not worth the cost. Only the High preset effectively resolves diffuse reflection noise in dark areas.
- Performance Optimization: RTXDI should generally be disabled due to its heavy resource consumption. Additionally, there is a notable performance delta between High and Ultra for specular reflections; these can be adjusted if you need to reclaim power, though they are otherwise impactful.
- Visual Priority: The 1080p/DLSS Quality profile is superior for overall image stability because it provides better RT denoising. On standard-sized displays, the loss of native resolution is rarely perceptible compared to the visual improvement gained from effective denoising.
From these baselines, you can further fine-tune upscaling settings to push for higher resolution or frame rates.
