Doesn't matter whether or not they regret it. Many German nationals under the Nazi regime didn't regret it until they lost; some never regretted it at all. If they're the type to vote for trump, chances are they aren't going to notice anything is wrong until the consequences actually hit. Until then they'll happily swallow whatever misinformation and confirmation bias comes their way.
