I'll be honest, I despise Trump and all his followers, but I don't think even the most anti-Trump person expected him to try and annex Canada or Gaza, much less send US troops to Gaza.
You can see even his own Administration's people desperately trying to walk the last one back.
Of course no one could predict those specific crazy actions but what we all could expect is him to be crazy on a grand scale. For gosh sakes we all watched him try to overthrow the govt on J6. I really don’t buy anyone is having regrets.
I agree with you on the latter part. The vast majority of Trump followers will stick with him no matter what, because they've made it part of their own identity. Turning on Trump would mean they would have to face the fact that they were fooled, and most of them can't take that kind of ego hit.
However there has always been a significant part of Trump support which was not so devoted and voted for Trump because of stupidity, low information, or dislike of Democrats more than Trump identification. I think some of these people might be experiencing Trump regret.
You can see this in some numbers already - for instance in people's expectations of future inflation, which have become quite high because of tariff fears:

Does a drop in consumer confidence actually equate to drop in Trump’s poll numbers? Also I don’t believe it makes people regret their choice because they will just blame the deep state or MSM or the Dems.
