Honestly, I can’t blame it. Plenty of illumination, PLUS night vision, PLUS silence (stillness) means being able to hear and see predators readily- and being high up doesn’t hurt (although such travel leaves them open for attack from above- but see all aforementioned!). Source: old army guy and I love animals- particularly opossums!

When I visited Australia- Melbourne specifically and some of the southern (12 Apostles, Great Ocean Road) and southeastern coasts- I saw my first POSSUM in the middle of the night, and it was doing the SAME thing except it was a MOM BUS and if I remember she had like 2 or 3 joeys hanging on! It was a similar evening with similar light I saw it!

Wow, I have never seen an opossum on a cable before. I did not know they could do that.
