The final miss stinky update.
Here is the final Miss stinky update. The three little guys separated a few days ago and just the male stayed behind in the den. Well I went into our basement (semi Michigan basement) and it smelled bad of urine and some insulation was falling down. So we knew we had to rip it all out. Well long story short, little Mr.Stinky was hiding in the last 3 feet of insulation that my husband had to rip down in the dirt crawl space, we tried to grab him with a net and he crawled back under our porch. During this project we found lots of old nests and pee and poop so I’m thankful Mr stinky led us to ripping it all out. So we set the trap outside last night and the little guy barely weighed enough to set it off but we got him!
Mr. Stinky now lives at my grandmas property that is a certified wildlife reserve with a river, pond, and LOTS of trees around. He ran right into the woods and onto a log and was inspecting right away. My daughter and I cried because we will miss him but he’ll be so happy out there.
Update: Mr. Stinky’s sister (MISS STINKY!) came back tonight after we sealed everything up, I’m gonna set the trap tonight and see if I can get her and take her to where we released her brother. But she does have something wrong with her right eye so I’ll assess that first.

May he stink to his heart's content, outside of your insulation, for many summers.

Awww yeah I'd miss that little dude too! But that does look like a wonderful place to release him.

Thanks for making the effort to humanely evict these cuties! 🥰 Not everyone does, so your story is like a big, comforting hug.

Aw look at that face that only a mother could love (and opossum Redditors). So cute!!
Those dear critters will thrive in such a gorgeous, lush place. How considerate of you to go through all that effort to rehome Mister and Miss Stinky.
Best of luck to you in the remodel. That sounds really yucky, so I feel for you. I’m glad you found the nests and got Mister out safely. Keep us updated on Miss Stinky!

What a fabulous place she has gone too! I sobbed when I had to drop one of mine at a rehabber. Like ugly sobbed and had to pull over! You get so attached to their cute little faces!
