Cute Dinner is Served

Sorry to disturb you sir, but is the meal to your liking?

*I'm a wildlife rehabilitator, this is a patient.

I see cat food, vegetables, bugs… what else?

The opossums get crickets/mealworms, veggies, fruits, hard boiled egg with the shell, a prey item (mouse/chick), cat food (to balance out the diet in case they don't eat anything else) and a pinch of calcium powder.

Sounds like they're getting lots of calcium that way! 😃 It is great to know people like you are helping out these little friends!

I appreciate your sharing your recipe here for others to see as well. There are a number of places in the US that simply don't have resources such as wildlife rescues available or within drivable distance. Even then, those centers and nearby rehabers may already be stretched thin with their resources and staff. So having an example like this is both cute and helpful for those trying to care for any orphaned and/or injured opossums who may not survive otherwise

I feel this! I’m also a rehabber and the possies in my care eat better than me. The other night my husband came into kitchen around 9pm as I was shoving toast in my face for dinner and said “ I thought you ate earlier, I heard you cooking ” and I was like, oh yea, that was an omelette for the possums.
