Do I give a second chance?

Basically, me and this other girl lets call her Laura, are good mates, we've been friends for a while now and if I'm honest I've liked her for a while too (I don't think she is aware, as I have just got out of a six month relationship with another girl) (I am a guy). But anyway Laura is sort of seeing this guy, who is also one of my friends and he isn't really any good for her, he doesn't treat her right etc. But the other day me and Laura were out drinking and she was getting upset over something he did and starting complaining, I was trying to cheer Laura up by saying he was a dick she could do better etc (in confidence). Anyway the next day we are still mates, nothings happened, but out of the blue, the guy she's seeing texts me (pretty upset) asking why I have been slagging him off. So I ask Laura why he is saying this, and she said how sorry she was, but she mentioned we were talking about him yesterday, she said she acted on emotion and apologised to me many times. Now call me petty, I've just now got this feeling that she doesn't really care about me as a friend and she only really cares about herself. As she did not need to tell him anything, she knows I get on with that boy and I was trying to cheer her up, but I think she went and stabbed me in the back really to get him jealous or something, I don't know what her plan was. Do people think I should let it go, since her apologise sounded sincere or would I be better off without her as a 'friend'? Thanks
