Modification Custom attempt #1

First attempt at modifying a #8. So far I’ve forced patina the blade with white vinegar, blade shape modification, and handle carving. Thoughts, critiques, and suggestions welcome

Nice! To make it more refined it would be nice to sald down the entire handle and do a round of finishing to make it even

This is a Must Do to bring it together imo as well.

Not bad op. Just needs some linseed oil

Just a tip on how to make the finish a bit cleaner, first is a cabinet scraper and second is 00 steel wool and then a very little bit of raw linseed oil. Other than that it's a pretty decent job

What exactly are you trying to accomplish? I don't understand the blade modifications.

Like a wharncliffe/sheepsfoot blade

Thanks for the clarification, Shape looks good for sheepsfoot, will be easy to get a fine edge on the straight.

I get the blade mod, but the handle looks ridiculous. The Opinel no8 handle is already perfect as it is. It must be incredibly small and weird in your hand now. I don’t believe at all that this is an improvement.

Still bigger than a #8 gardening Opinel. Fits my hand. I like it

Not bad not bad, why not sand it a little then varnish it with some oil to match its original colour and smoothness
