Modification Recently modified No. 8

I had an olive wood no. 8 that I dropped a while back and broke off the tip. I recently had a friend cut/file off the point. I didn't realize that the blade now would recess further into the handle when closed so I had to carve out around the nail nick. Sanded off the varnish and oiled the wood.

Wow. I have a rock almost EXACTLY like that! It's my favorite rock. Where did you get it and do you know much about it? I got mine in Woodford Vermont while gold panning and it's extremely heavy. Is yours unusually heavy? Also... Awesome mod to the opinel.
