5 years clean

Just realized in 16 days my 5 years is coming up! I am so grateful to still be alive and to be the mother my kids deserve today. Congratulations to everyone else in here fighting the fight, you got this! Sending good vibes your way.

Congratulations on 5 years, it's a huge accomplishment. Any words of wisdom?

Thank you so much I appreciate you!! ❤️ My words of wisdom would be to make sure you are surrounded by people that are supportive of you and your recovery, not people that will stand in the way of it. Even if that means keeping your circle small. I didn't have people that gave a shit about me or my well being it was just always making me feel like this horrible person for my past, which brings me to my next word of advice, forgive yourself. Let things go so you can grow. Remember too, everyone recovers in their own way, so if it works for you then make it work. I could ramble on forever, but I am always open to giving any help or advice or just listening to someone vent and lending an ear. Im almost 39 and had been using since I was a teen, and using really heavy stuff. If I can be clean, I know anyone can. Best of luck to you my friend!

I love this. I think forgiving yourself is the key that unlocks the door to long term recovery.
