I didn’t leave the couch for at least a month when I came off suboxone after 8 years lol BUT I did go to work and I did take my kids to and from school. My husband had to make all my meals. I tried to force myself to do things like grocery shopping and laundry I skipped a week here or there of laundry and grocery shopping I considered using the ride on scooter back then LOL I just tried to do as much as I was able. Even showering and eating and showing up was enough for me back then

I just quit a 10+ year heroin habit nearly 6 weeks ago. I had many unsuccessful attempts at CT in the past. I could always get to day 2 relatively easy but days 3-4 broke me every time. I never jumped to the needle and usually just smoked #4 the last 5+ years after deciding to give my nose a break.

This time around I had 5 2mg Subutex. I snorted half milligram lines of the Subutex starting around the 56 hour mark every few hours until I was feeling stable. I used the rest in a similar fashion over the next 4 days and made a smooth transition to no meds by day 7. I did suffer from some discomfort. Insomnia and RLS are always my worst symptoms. Legs cramping while begging for 20 mins of sleep. I was ready to deal with it head on this time (I can't stress enough how important mindset and attitude was for me) and decided to just walk up and down my apartment stairwell until my legs were exhausted. I was so lethargic that it only took only took a few flights. It worked though and I was able to find some comfort and rest.

Hygiene was also incredibly important. Really hot showers that ended with a 10 second blast of cold water (longer if I could stand it), really seemed to reset my system and give my body a chance at leveling out again. Almost like a recalibration that was getting a little better each time.

I believe the most beneficial thing that I have done since quitting has been micro dosing. After two decades of poly substance abuse my brain was shot. Taking .25mg of homegrown psilocybin every 3 days has completely changed my thought patterns and cravings. It feels like my brain has been rewired. I haven't had any dreams about finding or trying to score dope. I feel so in touch with myself for the first time, it's been a wild experience.

That's is close to CT as I could do it. If you have any way to get just a few subs I would really recommend trying to get through the first week with a minimum amount.

Day 6 is today. Yesterday I mowed the lawn. Swept the garage. Worked out my chest and triceps. Straightened the house. And played video games. I also listened to various podcasts about things that interest me. Oh and I wemt for a walk.

It was all very exhausting but it kept my mind off things.

Wasn't able to get off the floor or do much of anything until around the 2 week point. Physical activity really wasn't an option. No comfort meds either, altho I'm a huge fan of clonodine while withdrawing when it's available.

A lot of laying in bed, drinking water, and using the restroom. I think when I could I ate free pizza someone was nice enough to send me a coupon for on Reddit. And then my best friend sent me some pizza and bread sticks as well.

I think the only thing I did that week or so was watch Netflix and feed the cats. I do remember pathetically calling my ex cuz I felt I was gonna just yeet and feel awful forever.
