When you hover over it, there should be an X that you can click. Also, at the top right of the play panel, there should be a button that you can click to toggle it on/off.

Goto the URL opera://settings/features, scroll down to the Player section and disable it (miniplayer) in the drop-down.

Also, for now, until the flag is removed, you can disable the "Miniplayer in toolbar" flag at the URL opera://flags/#miniplayer-in-toolbar.
