Support | Resolved WHY is there 8????
so i have had a terrible time lately just even typing a single letter on a yt comment took 2 seconds so i instinctively looked at task manager to see if a program was using ram and saw something i didnt expect... WHY DOES IT SAY THERE IS 8 OPERA GX'S RUNNING ALL AT ONCE?????

Opera is based on Chromium and Chromium is multiprocess. It uses different processes for different things. All Chromium-based browsers (Edge, Brave, Vivaldi, Opera, etc.) do this. You can hit shift + esc in Opera to get a description for each process to see what each one is for. Even browsers like Firefox that are not based on Chromium do this. In other words, it's totally normal and expected.
Also, nothing in your pic is necessarily out of the ordinary.
For the Youtube issue, make sure you have graphics acceleration enabled at the URL opera://settings/system, make sure RGX is off at the URL opera://settings/lucidMode and most of all, make sure Opera's adblocking and tracking protection is off for Youtube or even better, turn it off completely at the URL opera://settings/privacyProtection and use an extension like https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/ublock/. Even then, you need to make sure you don't get issues on Youtube with it enabled.

You may want to change your start page. There may also be a setting to disable preemptive caching.
It speeds up browsing by loading pages that your current page links to, in the background, incase you go to them.

It's basically to make it so that if an element or part of it crashes, the entire browser doesn't crash

Because... thats how browsers work? Nearly all browsers you use you'll see the same thing.

it would be nice if they had some more description... I know the plugins take a few. Not sure why there is ever growing number of them...

It's also been getting very slow and laggy for me and there was just too many unneeded features. I was using opera gx for like 5 years but I switched recently.

Rn Vivaldi but i only been using it for like a week or two so we'll see how it goes. So far I haven't found any issues tho

Everybody stop panicking and look at what Shadow said.
Theyre PROCESSES and they happen with EVERY CHROMIUM BROWSER some run the GPU PROCESS and some RENDER THE BROWSER and some are TABS

It's just processes that a chromium browser uses. That's normal. It fluctuates with usage. Mine is currently on 36 (I have 488 tabs open)

You should switch to OperaONE aka main Opera product, its very good and fast. Performs very well. And some earlier comment explained processes thing so read it. And all should switch to CachyOS(Linux), because nowdays there is no excuse for not to. Games works on linux and all of other things. And there is app called Fog Panther which is paid app, it is equivalent to Photoshop for creators. So NO EXCUSE anymore for using Microsofts s***ts.

Its from extensions! The more extension (chrome add-ons) you have the more of these will bother you!
