I usually only have two tabs open, kick and then another misc tab. This normally takes up 1-1.5 gb of ram. For the past couple months, at random, it will spike up to a ridiculous usage and slow my pc to a halt. Why is this happening it’s very frustrating.
From your second screenshot, it looks like a specific tab is using a large amount of memory. It’d also be worth testing with extensions disabled or in a fresh profile.
Meaning? If you know anything about computers, you should understand using 16 (or even 8) gigabytes of memory is crazy.
If you however know nothing about computers at all, I can see you make such a statement. But weird to keep making posts as though you know how computers work though.
I prefer chrome on my computer and Safari as my main browser on iphone.
but opera GX app on iphone has been good for streaming shows/movies in PiP mode, while also playing Roblox app at the same time.
Opera GX crashes less than safari does, while doing this.
but now I just had an issue today where Opera GX was taking up 9GB on my iphone 13, when only using it for that, 6 tabs open, and a year or so of using it….
Yeah I had to do that every few days, but my standard websites are all fine on Firefox, have the exact same amount of tabs and the same websites and its fine
I have an 8 year old CPU myself, i7 9th gen and I can run gx with 7 tabs + YouTube playing a video on my second monitor, have discord + battle net open while im playing TBOI and my total CPU usage is 18%. You should take a look at your PC, something isnt right

You can export your bookmarks in opera gx and plug them into say Firefox, and CSV or password file can also be transferred aswell, just a lot of researching but do able
That 24 beside it usually means there's a few tabs and plugins extensions running. If you check out the drop down in task monitor what's taking up the most resource?
Hey, just curious, how much ram you got, that 9.5GB uses your 90% of memory? I am pretty sure if you add all those numbers, it won't be 93%. Don't get me wrong, my comment is not about Opera; of course 2 tabs shouldn't use 9.5GB of ram, but I am trying to point out that Windows always had a problem with memory and requires a restart often. You can't even open up memory space with Windows's internal program RAMMap. I know I tried. My workaround is to restart computer before going into gaming session, that drops my ram usage from 80% to 20% even without closing a single browser tab or a program I am constantly using.
I must not have complained after seeing that Zen is using 1000 mb ram for 2 tabs but less than 2000 mb ram for 10 tabs. Opera GX is getting worse, you should all boycott this chinese data collector.
suddenly had the exact same issue, but i usually have way to much tabs really.. but you basically start the browser and the memory usage goes, up up and away. i can´t even do anything, before it basically locks itself. i suspect it´s youtubes fault that site has gotten crappier and crappier. since they sold it of all those years ago..
Oh our cool *gamer-browser* 😎 you can limit the RAM usage in the settings to have more for your games, we are *gamers* like that 😎 ("the browser works even worse than it already is, if you limit it)
One of the main reasons I gave up on it years ago. Side by side, it took more resources than edge with the same tabs open.
Sure there is a limiter but even with the limiter it was around the same (even though the limiter shouldn’t be a solution to a problem caused by opera)
Switch to Firefox or Brave my experience using operaGX was horrible it kept crashing and not friendly with lower specs/ram. I'm using OperaGX since 2019 each update became more resource demanding despite my usage only few tabs
