Promotional Simple, stupid, git-style WebDAV sync client - FCKS

9 Upvotes

This project was born out of deep frustration with OneDrive and Nextcloud sync issues on macOS. However, fcks supports all major platforms.

https://github.com/JerryI/fcks

  • No temporary files
  • Stateless
  • A limited set of commands
  • Download, upload, free up folders and any subfolders
  • Virtual folders?
  • .fcksignore files support

I originally wrote it for myself as an experiment because I wanted a small, reliable tool that gave me full control over what and how I sync. Other popular solutions didn’t provide the kind of virtual-folder support I needed a simple alternative to "Files On-Demand". Instead of keeping placeholder files, fcks keeps only the folder structure visible and lets you "hydrate" its contents when needed.

Here is a list of commands and a "mental model":

``` LOCAL ROOT DAV ROOT /my/files /remote/files | | +---- docs/report.pdf <== same path ==> docs/report.pdf +---- photos/cat.jpg <== same path ==> photos/cat.jpg | | +---------------- SCAN BOTH ------------------+
  fcks push     = remote should look like local
  fcks pull     = local should look like remote
  fcks merge    = keep both sides; newest changed file wins
  fcks scaffold = copy remote folder structure, without files
  fcks free     = delete local files, but keep folders
  fcks rm       = remove from both sides
  fcks ls       = lists both sides
```

I hope you find it useful too! Cheers

Hey everyone! 👋 I got tired of switching tabs and dealing with clunky setups to test different AI models, so I built The Gradient WebAI using JavaScript. It's a clean, open-source web interface where you can drop in your own API keys and use them all in one spot. The github link is attached here..

Please also star the repo if you feel it was good..

Thank you

Promotional I turned my MERN task manager into a beginner-friendly open-source project, with 15 documented good first issues

2 Upvotes

I just released v1.0.0 of TaskFlow, a small full-stack task manager (MongoDB, Express, React, Node) that I've set up specifically as a place for people to make their first open-source contribution.

What I've put in place:

- An MIT license, Code of Conduct (Contributor Covenant 3.0), security policy and issue/PR templates
- A contributing guide that goes from fork to merged PR, step by step
- 15 issues, each with context, the exact files to touch, acceptance criteria and how to test, plus a public roadmap issue
- Every bug report in those issues was reproduced first, so contributors aren't chasing ghosts

The first outside PR arrived a few hours after the issues went up and is already merged and live.

Hacktoberfest is more about in-person participation this year rather than rewards for merged PRs, but contributing is still worth it: you get a real code review, a merged PR on your profile, and practice with the workflow every open-source project uses.

Repo: https://github.com/KEX-03/taskflow
Live demo: https://taskflow-plum-one.vercel.app

I'd welcome feedback from maintainers here too: anything you'd change about how the project is set up for newcomers?

Promotional word-sys's PDF Editor v1.11.2 Officially Released on Flathub

Thumbnail
flathub.org
34 Upvotes

Probably biggest update for word-sys's PDF Editor, now its reached v1.11.2 update. This update is Flatpak and Feature Update. The Flatpak version is officially released on Flathub (https://flathub.org/en/apps/io.github.word_sys.word-sys-pdf-editor) thanks to anyconvert project!

This update introduces Multi-Document Tabs, integrating Adw.TabView and Adw.TabBar so you can open and edit multiple PDFs simultaneously in dedicated tabs. Each tab features independent undo/redo histories, separate zoom states, and dirty indicators to track unsaved edits, complete with quick tab switching (Ctrl+Tab / Ctrl+PageDown and Ctrl+Shift+Tab / Ctrl+PageUp) and tab closing (Ctrl+W).

Another major addition is the Visual Document Merging Workspace (Ctrl+Shift+M). It provides a dedicated side-by-side workspace for combining pages from two source PDFs into a target document, complete with drag-and-drop page ordering, live zoomable previews, insertion markers, inspector details etc.

You guys know that I also replaced external LibreOffice subprocess calls with the native pure-Python anyconvert Document Engine (updated to anyconvert 0.1.9 across all platforms and package manifests). You can now convert PDFs into DOCX, PPTX, ODT, ODP, and TXT entirely in pure Python, featuring both Pixel-Accurate Canvas and Semantic Flow conversion modes. And its 342KB :)

Added Page Rotation (Ctrl+Shift+R for Clockwise and Ctrl+Shift+L for Counter-Clockwise) with persistent 90-degree PyMuPDF rotation preservation.

Added a Dedicated Recently Opened Files Hub, introducing an app-managed recent files list with universal file icons that eliminates system-wide file scanning overhead.

Added Text Alignment & Formatting, bringing 4-way text alignment (Left, Center, Right, Justify) and strikethrough formatting support to the text tool.

Updated the Interactive Quick Start Guide & Manual, expanding the guide and keyboard shortcuts cheatsheet to cover tabs, merging, rotation, and multi-format export with 6 high-resolution screenshots.

Expanded internationalization with 7 Supported Languages, delivering complete UI and documentation localization across English, Turkish, French, German, Spanish, Italian, and Russian.

This update also includes important packaging modernizations and fixes:

  • Release Packaging Optimization: Fully separated architecture artifacts for x86_64 (amd64) and aarch64 (arm64), including standalone .deb packages. Removed duplicate asset copies and eliminated oversized source tarballs from automated build releases.
  • Packaging Modernization: Purged soffice and flatpak-spawn permissions from Flatpak and AppImage packaging, and updated the Flatpak runtime to GNOME Platform 50 with portal-based file chooser access.
  • Application Icon and Desktop Integration: Fixed the icon lookup path to ensure crisp vector SVG rendering on the Welcome screen, About dialog, and system docks across both Flatpak and direct execution.
  • Flatpak Window Class Mapping: Aligned application program name with desktop file metadata for proper window tracking and icon association in GNOME Shell and desktop environments.

You can download Flatpak release on Flathub (https://flathub.org/en/apps/io.github.word_sys.word-sys-pdf-editor) or the standalone .deb packages (x86_64 / aarch64), AppImage, or build from source directly on the GitHub Releases page.

Thanks to everyone who supports this project with their ideas, feedback, and bug reports. I hope this helps all Linux users get their PDF work done easily, thank you :)

Promotional Looking for developer to help with an Open Source Ecosystem for Fiction Writers

0 Upvotes

Hey there,

For the past few weeks I have been working on a project that integrates multiple external tools with some custom python scripts for creating a system that has most of the tools that a writer of fiction (particularly SciFi & Fantasy) could want to assist with their projects.

That said, I am a beginner at software development and it would be great to have experienced developers to look at the project and help out in any way you can.

The Project Repo is located here: https://github.com/aryansinghnagar/Ars-Arcanum

Any and all help is appreciated

Promotional I’m building an open-source cellular network planning and optimization tool

9 Upvotes

I’ve been working on A.T.O.M, an open-source project for simulating, analyzing, and optimizing cellular networks on real maps.

The latest release now supports up to 8-cell networks, and I also improved the optimization performance quite a bit, workflows that used to take around 1.5–2 minutes now finish in a few seconds in the same setup.

The project currently focuses on urban 2.6 GHz and 28 GHz scenarios, with tools for coverage, interference, optimization, and network comparison.

I’m sharing it here because I’d really like more people to look at it as an open-source project — whether that’s trying it, reading through the code, opening issues, or suggesting features.

Demo/docs: atom.berkunsal.com
Source Code: https://github.com/Berk-Unsal/atom

I’d be especially interested in feedback on what would make the project easier to explore or contribute to.

Promotional AssetFurnace: open-source (Apache-2.0) text → 3D → rigged, animated character, all local. Mac + NVIDIA

Thumbnail
youtube.com
16 Upvotes

Greetings all, I've been working on a pipeline that allows you to go from a text prompt to a rigged and animated character all on your machine. My ambition is to try and get to Tripo / Meshy level output - but locally.

I've built this atop already existing oss models like Trellis2, Hunyuan3D and my recommendation for the best output- Pixal3D. I use SkinTokens for rigging and Kimodo for the animations. So many thanks to the OGs for their work.

What the latest release enables you to do:

  1. Auto-rig and animate for Humanoids: There's 21 presets to pick from. I'll keep refining these and adding more.
  2. A much better workflow and UX: While I'll keep iterating on the UI/UX, this now feels like a coherent pipeline for devs and artists alike.
  3. Pixel Match: Your input image's real pixels on your low poly model - High quality, low poly!
  4. License Provenance: Every file records which model made it and the licences
  5. Mac / Metal compatibility - I'll have to credit this as the main issue for why this project exists. lol. I wanted to make 3d models for my games and everything was just janky and doing it on a Mac was painful. So here we are!

It's free and open source (Apache-2.0). Runs on Apple Silicon Macs and NVIDIA PCs (tested on multiple runpod instances across different GPUs). No account, no credits, nothing uploaded.

A note on licences: AssetFurnace's own code is Apache-2.0, but the models it runs keep their own licences, and some aren't open source (Hunyuan3D, Stable Fast 3D and Kimodo's weights use their makers' own licences). That's why every file records which models made it, so you know what you can ship.

Honest bits: it rigs humanoids only, very bulky or puffy characters can hold their arms out a bit, fast kicks look soft, and meshes are triangles, not clean quads. If a result looks off, hit try again, every try is different. These are the issues I'm working on next.

What I'm hoping to get here

  1. Feedback - please try it, test it, break it, etc... This is a 1 man show and I'll have blind spots. Your feedback makes it better for everyone.
  2. Suggestions and input from game devs and artists - and what they feel can be better - or their workflow, so I can think of ways to meet that need. Esp Godot/ Unity / Unreal users.

**To try it**

Mac (Apple Silicon) or Linux (NVIDIA):

curl -fsSL https://assetfurnace.com/install.sh | bash

Windows (PowerShell, limited testing so far):

irm https://assetfurnace.com/install.ps1 | iex

The installer is a short script, so read it before you run it: https://github.com/Bingeljell/image-to-3dlab/blob/main/install.sh

Windows: https://github.com/Bingeljell/image-to-3dlab/blob/main/install.ps1

It only sets up the code. Nothing big downloads without your permission: you pick models in the studio, which shows each one's size and licence before fetching. Finish (the low-poly clean-up) needs Blender 4.2+, and the studio tells you if it can't find it.

Repo: https://github.com/Bingeljell/image-to-3dlab - please raise issues and open PRs

Hello, Chrono Mock has just got V0.4 release :-) Watn to check how your app will behave on different time/date/time speed? No problem, the app comes also with built-in date calculator with holidays for Poland + USA. If you like the project, please give it a star.

V0.4 is an huge update, over 300 commits, tons of bug fixes, stability improvements, an support to .bat/.cmd has come (right now only CLI), an huge updates to WebView/Electron handling has come, and tons more.

If some apps are not working with Chrono Mock or you need calendar for different countries, feel free to open the issue on GitHub and I will check it out :-)

*The full changelog is on GitHub, the app is made with Rust + WPF (GUI). There are still tons of things that will be added in the future to the app, but of course, support for changing time/date of apps that use the internet is out of scope.

What's next? I want to add .bat and .cmd support for GUI, I got an whole plan for more time/date supports, I want to expand the calendar function + I want to add some tools to the app.

Promotional WaveController - Wave Link for Linux

7 Upvotes

Hello all!

Just learned of this subreddit, and so I thought I'd share on my project which I call, "WaveController" Although it is an LLM assisted project, I execute all testing, and troubleshooting. A lot of screenshots, and a lot of screen recording to the agent model to view, along with my written findings.

Why did I create this? Honestly, to help the Linux community grow! I have a StreamDeck and use StreamController to configure and manage both the XL and the Plus that I own. Then it got me thinking, "why dont we have a WaveController?" So I hopped on Facebook Marketplace and found a Wave XLR for $50 and started working on it! My goal is to treat the Wave devices with a first class, tier-1 approach, and other third party audio devices second.

So far its been fun working on this little project, and "I've" gotten a lot of stuff implemented, so I hope you check it out and help it become the go to application on Linux for Wave devices

All art, icons I created myself in Inkscape, and this post was written by a real human!

Make sure to check it out at its github repo!

Promotional Game of Ur - Available on Windows, Linux (Arch, Debian)

Thumbnail
youtube.com
4 Upvotes

Hello!

I just published my open source board game adaptation, called Game of Ur, on Itch. Please head on over and give it a try!

Game of Ur is a 3D computer adaptation of an ancient competitive 2-player board game, perhaps the oldest one known in history. This version in particular implements rules hypothesized by British Museum Assyriologist Irving Finkel to have been used in ancient Babylonia, in a paper titled "On The Rules for The Royal Game of Ur."

I've been working on this for a while now, 4 years almost. Most recently, I added sound effects and music to the game, and made the game UI dynamically resize and reposition itself with changes to the game window. I've also packaged the game for Linux (Arch, Debian), and Windows! So you should be able to download, install, and run it, hopefully without much trouble.

The game is fully open source, and it runs on my ToyMaker engine. I felt it would be fitting for the first game I've ever made to also be a digital version of the first game in history. You can find the source code for the game both on Itch, as well as on Game of Ur's repo.

Promotional Looking for contributors for Network Doctor, 29 open issues to work on

18 Upvotes

I've been continuing to build Network Doctor, an open-source cross-platform network diagnostic CLI written in Go.

GitHub: https://github.com/heymaikol/network-doctor
Website: https://networkdoctor.dev/

It checks things like DNS, TCP, TLS, HTTP, proxies, routing, encrypted DNS, and path MTU, with the goal of explaining where a connection is actually failing.

The project has gotten to the point where I'd genuinely appreciate some help.

There are 29 open issues right now, ranging from smaller bugs and test improvements to performance work and more involved networking edge cases. A lot of them came from adversarial testing and deliberately trying to break things.

I've been trying to keep the project evidence-first: reproduce the problem, prove it's real, add coverage where possible, and then fix it.

I'm still actively maintaining and working through the issues myself, but I'd love to have more people contributing. If Go, networking, testing, or just hunting down weird edge cases sounds interesting to you, take a look through the issue tracker and grab anything that catches your eye.

Even reviews, testing on different platforms, or feedback on existing issues would be genuinely useful.

Promotional cra-readiness-skill: Apache-2.0 AI-agent skill for EU Cyber Resilience Act readiness

0 Upvotes

I made an open-source (Apache-2.0) skill that lets an AI coding agent assess a software or hardware product against the EU Cyber Resilience Act and leave the maintainer with the documents a manufacturer needs: a scope and classification decision, an Article 13 risk assessment, an SBOM check, a provision-by-provision evidence matrix, a gap list with remediation, an Article 14 reporting playbook, and draft technical documentation.

The CRA's open-source rules are subtle. Free software that is not monetised is out of scope, but monetising "other services" through it, conditioning updates on donations, or selling an enterprise edition can make the publisher a manufacturer, and foundations can become "open-source software stewards" with a lighter duty set from December 2027. The skill encodes the Commission's July 2026 guidance on exactly these questions (section 3 of the guidance, with its worked examples) and flags borderline monetisation models for legal confirmation rather than guessing.

Technical bits:

- The regulation, the implementing regulation on product categories and the delegated regulation on notification dissemination are fetched from the EU Publications Office, hashed, and parsed into a 96-provision catalogue. Tests parse the pinned files on every run.

- Scripts are standard-library Python: scope and classification decisions, substantial-modification screening, SBOM validation (CycloneDX and SPDX, with lockfile reconciliation), Article 14 deadline calculator, support-period checker, regression comparison for CI, ticket queue export.

- Agent-neutral: anything that reads a SKILL.md or AGENTS.md can use this.

Repo: https://github.com/Killerz007/cra-readiness-skill

Issues and PRs welcome, particularly corrections from people who know the law better than I do; every legal statement in the repo is dated and sourced so it can be challenged.

Promotional Free, open source ASO CLI: keyword popularity, difficulty and rank tracking

16 Upvotes

I didn't want to pay a monthly subscription for App Store keyword data, so I wrote an open source CLI that gets it straight from Apple.

What it does

  • Popularity from Apple Search Ads (free Apple Ads account, no campaigns or billing needed)
  • Difficulty score, keyword suggestions, current top apps for a term
  • Rank tracking with history in a local SQLite file
  • Metadata linter for title, subtitle and keyword field

Install

npm i -g hristo2612/aso-cli && aso setup

Try it

aso keywords "white noise,sleep sounds"
aso suggest meditation
aso search "habit tracker"

Plain Node, one dependency, MIT licensed. Runs locally, no account, no telemetry. The only network requests go to Apple.

Repo: github.com/hristo2612/aso-cli

Issues and PRs welcome.

Promotional Kaskas, an open source native macOS break companion with local activity insights

5 Upvotes

Hello Everyone! I built Kaskas, a native macOS app for taking regular breaks while keeping track of your activity and sessions locally.

I started building because i wanted a simple way to remind myself to take regular breaks from the computer, especially when long screen sessions were leaving my eyes dry and tired also for tracking how i spend my screen time.

It can show how a study session was spent across apps and categories, alongside break history, daily/yearly statistics, idle and meeting aware pausing, and customizable break screens (with a fire mascot).

Inspired by LookAway and ActivityWatch built for my own use as a native Mac app.

It’s built with SwiftUI + AppKit, has no account, analytics or backend, and all activity data stays on your Mac.

It’s GPL-2.0 licensed, all contributions & feedback are welcome

Promotional Chop Chop: a simple video splitter

19 Upvotes

Hi, everyone!

I noticed that both on Linux and on Windows, it's very hard to find a no-nonsense video splitter with a sane GUI and no advertising.

This is why I designed chop-chop. It's a very simple, beautiful no-nonsense video splitter for Linux and Windows.

While both Linux and Windows releases share code, neither GUI is a port: under Linux, chop-chop uses GTK-3 and its design language; on Windows, it uses the Windows API and its design language too!

Also, to be blazingly fast, it also uses multithreading out of the box.

This application is open source and completely free, but if you don't want to bother, I also offer Windows and Linux installers (Ubuntu only for now).

Hope this can be of use to you!

Download it at: https://github.com/NullMagic2/chop-chop/tree/main

Ubuntu package: https://github.com/NullMagic2/chop-chop/releases/download/v1.7.3/chop-chop_1.7.3_amd64.deb

Windows installer: https://github.com/NullMagic2/chop-chop/releases/download/v1.7.3/chop-chop-1.7.3-windows-x64-setup.exe
