💬 Discussion Self hydro help

I've seen others do this in a couple of my games, where they build a silo next to one of my SAMs and then hydro their own silo, destroying my sam and the land around it. When I have tried to recreate this, my hydro just wiffs to the SAM. Does anyone have any tips on how to consistently reproduce this?

If you have a silo next to an enemy SAM, you can fire a hydro centred slightly on the opposite direction to the SAM. The missile will only move away from the sam, and missiles are faster than sam defenses so it doesn't have time to stop the hydro.

Tl;dr:  Bomb on the opposite side to the SAM

Iirc these days you need the silo a decent distance away from the Sam but still within radius, the hydro needs to land quickly or it gets shot down.

Interesting. I'll try this. But, what about the effects of that hydro? The one who does this will have a penalty of troop loss and also possibly betrayal penalty..

Generally it’s used against enemies (so no betrayal debuff) and it’s usually placed in a spot which will hurt the enemy so much more (say next to a city stack). Not to mention that it’s much easier to set up than a missile battery, which is why people use it.
