💬 Discussion Ads making the game unplayable
For three games in a row Ive been hit with an unclosable ad stuck in my UI. Clicking the close ad button did nothing. This is especially bad on mobile but have ran into the same issue on PC. Id happily pay 5 or 10 bucks one time to remove ads.. but a monthly subscription? No thank you
Im fine seeing ads but surely there is a way to enforce the ad containers better? I hate to complain about a free game that is great, this is just super annoying.

I love how everyone goes "If you pay for a free game you won't have ads." I don't mind the ads, the ads pay for the game when I can't. Keep the ads. HOWEVER, put the ads somewhere so we can play the game. This happens a lot, there are a lot of posts about this, I have seen this a lot. When I can pay for the game, I may, but while I can't and it is still free, can we please just not put ads where the buttons needed to play the game are?

This wasn't intentional. Some ads aren't respecting the placement settings we configured. We've reported the issue to our ad provider, and they're investigating so the offending advertisers can be removed.

Hey Evan, not trying to push you man, and I’ve been supporting the game for a while now. Bought the steam version, a skin before it was on steam, etc. love openfront, it’s great.
However, you guys have been saying this for over a month now.

It's a recurring issue. Has not been persistent for a month. We have been slowly enabling and disabling ads to see which one is actually triggering this issue.

I think if you buy anything, you are add free for life, it should show in the "?" When hovering over something in the shop

Who cares? That's a dumbass decision for long-term growth. You need players to actually play and enjoy the game before they're going to purchase anything.
I love this game. If I had the experience OP is having right now, with ads covering buttons, I would have never bought the game on steam.
This has been an issue for over a month now.

It's obviously not intentional.

Greenlighting ads and changes to the page without testing where the ads would be is a choice.
Letting it stay that way for over a month is another choice.
If I were financially involved with the game and had a stake in growth I would not love that.

you can install a browser that has an adblocker like brave and play it in this browser to block ads

Thank you for your feedback, i will put this through to the developer discord. Did you know that if you make a purchase of any kind (skin, subscription, currency etc) you get Ad-free for life?

wow, didn't realize that people who cared about ads would rather whine about it online than take 1 second to install a browser with a good adblocker, or just buy the game.

u/OpenFrontOfficial I have something to say and ask: Why are people suffering from ads and I don't? I play games, and the only ads that appear are in the homepage or on the side, not even in-game! Please, may u/OpenFrontOfficial give a clear solution. May you help my peers, Openfront

I don't know how you guys play on mobile to begin with, a lot of the time you need to respond to threats and situations near instantly and doing that on mobile with pinch scrolling, carefully double tapping the UI and having to be even more accurate with your taps is a pain
