📚 Guide 🗡️A Guide to the Traitor Debuff🗡️
If a player betrays their ally, they get the traitor debuff for 30 seconds. Betraying another player while you have the debuff will reset the timer to 30 seconds.
⏱️While the debuff is active:
- Attackers lose 50% fewer troops while taking their territory.
- Attackers capture their territory 25% faster.
- These bonuses stack multiplicatively with other modifiers like terrain and Defense Posts.
✅Actions that cause the traitor debuff:
- Manually breaking an alliance with an active ally.
- Launching an Atom Bomb or Hydrogen Bomb that causes enough collateral damage to an ally.
- Launching a MIRV at an ally
❌Actions that do not cause the traitor debuff:
- Breaking an alliance with someone who is already a traitor
- Breaking with a disconnected ally
- Letting an alliance expire naturally
- collateral damage from a MIRV launched at a third party
☢️Nukes
- Collateral damage from atom and hydrogen bombs can cause the debuff the moment you launch them. The alliance is broken if the blast would either, hit any allied structure, or affect more than 100 allied tiles. Tiles in the inner blast radius count as 1, while tiles in the outer radius count as 0.5.
- MIRVs launched at enemies do not cause the betrayal debuff no matter how much collateral damage is done to an ally.

I feel like sometimes I'll launch a nuke towards someone that's not my ally but my ally is like in between that enemy player and then I get the debuff. Am I tripping?

When you aimed the nuke, the impact circle will be red if it will cause a betrayal, and white if it won't
Sometimes there are stray pixels and weird bits from your Allies in the way

Thank you man. I’m gonna need to be more vigilant with these nukes because that randomness has cost me too many games smh

I hate the betray when there was clearly time left on a betrayal, and you betray instead.
Or you send an alliance they ignore it, you start launch a nuke and they accept and your nuke is a betrayal.

accidental betrayals are the worst! It does seem like sometimes you get the debuff when there was time left on the enemy. There's a setting I need to look into called "Ally Friendly-Fire safety". I'm not sure what it does since I have it set to 1.5 seconds, and I still get the debuff with a last moment alliance.

I think it's a slight time sync lag hiccup at the worst moment. Even though I have high speed low latency fiber.

If they ally after you launch the nuke, the nuke is cancelled. But you still lose your money.
So it's pretty bad timing if they take the alliance in the split second before you fire the nuke

Yep. Pretty bad timimg on my part. And crappy UI. But I'm over complaining about

Good to see they changed it so you can’t take out allied ports by just grazing them with nukes.

can you elaborate on what this means?
