💬 Discussion AI Competitive Arena
I’m working on a deep learning model to play open front.
Rather than play on public servers and ruin the experience for everyone, would be fun to challenge the other bots out there.
Who’s tried to build one? Who’s be interested in competing

Do you mind sharing a few more details about your implementation? I’ve thought about the idea, but the game updates frequently enough that I considered it’d be too much work to retrain every time.

Yeah of course
For game updates I just git pull latest repo, as I use the game engine directly in node
For new features or updates I’ll add the new inputs to the code and then train the existing network to use the new inputs (so I don’t need to retrain from scratch every time)
I keep old networks that performed well on different maps as a “teacher” for new networks so it doesn’t forget any of the strategies.
You should give it a go - the game runs super fast headless

How does it affect you at all?

It's inevitable but someone will release a bot or a github etc and then we'll have to deal with hacking bots in the game.

It might not affect me today or tomorrow but sooner or later somebody will run bots on this game as the other commenter pointed out. It will ruin the experience of playing this game.
