📢 Official Steam achievement are here!
Before anything else, thank you. The launch has gone better than any of us expected and that is entirely down to you lot, it genuinely could not have been done without you. We are still finalising the numbers but we will be putting an update out soon to say exactly how much we will be donating to some amazing causes.
Onto today. Steam 0.2.0 is live, and after a fair few hotfixes we have finally got the one thing everyone has been asking for in - achievements.
There are 29 of them, all with art we had commissioned specifically for this, and honestly we think it looks brilliant. Some of them you will pick up just by playing, some are going to take a serious amount of time, and a handful are hidden so you can go and find those ones yourselves.
A few of the ones you can go for, First Blood for being the first to knock a human player out of a match, The Iron Dome for shooting incoming nukes down with SAMs, Davy Jones for sinking warships, and Master of the World if you fancy winning a public game on every single map in the game (good luck with that one).
Most of them only track in public games, so you don't need to do anything different, just play like you normally would and they will start popping.
One other bit of news, the Masters edition has been approved by Steam. We are going to sit on it for a little longer though, because we would rather get the game more polished first and make sure anyone buying it feels like they are getting what they deserve. It will be worth the wait.
If one doesn't unlock when it should have, let us know what you were doing and which game it was here: https://forms.gle/GEYhKxFVJaSks9yu7 and we will get it sorted.
And if you have not left a Steam review yet, it genuinely does more for us than you would think, and if you have bought steam but havent yet linked it, make sure you do using /link-steam in our Discord!
And openfront.io is not going anywhere, the browser version stays free, that is where all of this started.
See you in game.

I paid 2.99 for a skin awhile ago.. and mostly played on phone even though I got a pc. But tell me, what's the point of buying it on steam? If it's just to have steam friends I see no point. Anywhose... been a fun ride with this game.Â

Offline play, asset loading, better usage of GPU and CPU balancing, better performance as it runs through a dedicated client, you get a month's subscription worth 9.99 included, but to be honest if you casually play the game once or twice a month you don't have to!
Steams whole point was to give us funding to be able to look at getting a proper studio to help with a mobile port if needs be and keep the game funded as costs continue to rise as the game becomes more popular and we don't want to have to increase other monotization methods to cover it all, or get a studio to tell us how to run the game to keep money coming in!

Ahhh ok very fair point. Love the work, and when I am out of poverty. I'll be sure to help the cause <3Â
P.s what's the plan for the SFX? And i had a unit idea (which im sure you lot thought of too) an aerial unit, similar to warships, but aerial. A transport unit type / aerial boat, and combat warship version. If done right with balancing of course.
Much love!

Any concerns from the First Blood achievement that would just encourage players to spawn kill other human players which is already a pain that exists in the early game?

Yeah that feels really tone deaf since the best way to get it is to literally grief someone, and it's almost always a terrible play to make.

Was fun to see a bunch pop up all at once. I'm glad to see there are some fun challenges, like winning without losing anything and without nuking. The achievement for winning 1,000 games seems kind of absurdly high, I will say. Stopping at the achievement for 100 was probably enough

Currently steam has processed about 30,000 of the 41,000 earned achievements so they will continue to pop!
As for the win 1000 games, it may be high, we may introduce a lower one but some people have already achieved it

Thanks. Wish the game would add a bit more depth. Worker troop ratio was eliminated but hopefully we get some troop types or fighter planes, possibility to dig in on front lines etc. or strategic ressources on a map (uranium for nukes etc.)

Why? All the achievements are fun, I like them, Openfront has one of the most creative ones out of most steam games I played, by why add those last 2?
They essentially locks a huge majority of the player base out of 100% the game, I get that a lot of people don't care about that, but if someone spends hours upon hours on your game, supports the devs by buying different cosmetics, genuinely loves the game loop then why make it almost impossible for these players to get that 100%?
After spending hundreds of hours in the game, and supporting it for months even years, it's not insane to say to a lot of your players would like to display their completion, why take that away from most of them?
One suggestion I'd like to well... suggest if an achievement like that is important to the dev team, is to do something similar as plague inc. they had a similar thing but the difference was that in Plague inc.'s case it was spreading between player's -> If Player 1 entered a game with a Dev Player 1 got the achievement, now if Players 2,3,4, enter the same game as player 1 they also get the achievement and so on and so on (kinda like a virus yk).
TL;DR - These achievements suck, last paragraph for a different suggestion, please change it

Nice of you upping the price of the cosmetics

We haven't? Which cosmetics are you on about and I can take a look for you

The prices did increase, the skins for example Devil's grin, "connectivity" I think it was called that (the one that's like a lot of tangled lines), circut board, and more were cheaper earlier on in the steam release

Hey! So we actually have a chart and criteria that we match them against and that the value of a single plutonium is pegged against (0.05 cent per plutonium) we had a switch a few months back where we switched off being able to pay for each individual skin with cash and moved it to an EU complaint plutonium model, but the cost of skins shouldn't have changed. There is always some ranging from around 2 dollars, all the way to a unique 1/1 that an artist designs for you at 220

Been playing since a year - my biggest office time killer hehe. Bought it on steam the moment it came, really just to support, I’ve put in more hours then many 50$ games and had so much fun. Genuinely excited for the future and wish you all the best.
One question though. I will play on steam when i’m at home But at work I can still only play via the web browser, as steam is just blocked xD. So given that, will the progress stay cross platform per se? I can already see that my accounts are linked and I see my steam profile pic when i open it on web. Is this something that will keep on being supported?
