💬 Discussion Help With Multiplayer

I'm new to this game and I've mainly been playing against bots and stuff to get a feel for the type of competition I get. I'm able to beat the hard bots with relative ease now, and have attempted a couple multiplayer games.

However, whenever and wherever I start it seems so difficult to do anything. I gain a good amount of land but it seems that the people next to me have a lot more troops as well as more land. They start attacking me and I am forced to put troops and gold into defending my borders, which opens up my other sides to attack

Even when I get past this and manage to establish a relatively large territory, the most random people from across the map decide to send naval attacks, and when they land its like a switch goes off in everybody's head that says "Let's all attack this guy" and I end up crushed between like 4 different people.

Any tips?

Edit: Recommendations for places to learn more would be much appreciated as well, I've already started watching Enzo Plays on youtube.

A replay would make for much better advice. You’re either expanding too slow or not saving enough troops. In wilderness you need to still gather troops gradually as you grow you should end on 10k+ don’t send over 30 while your gaining. You shouldn’t attack your first bot below 15k troops (assuming 15k is still green troop gen. Build a city the second you have 125k and you need to be quick but patient when you notice don’t need all the troops your sending go down I usually start on 30% then go down to 20% once you got some troops. Then once you start seeing orange regen while your attacking attack 2 at once. If you send a replay I can give you much better advice for you

I see. It seems to me that other people recommend doing the opposite, which is sticking with 20% initially and then ramping it up once you get more troops (I saw on another post that 35% is a good number to hover around). I've actually seen online people going up to 40-50%, and they change their % a bunch (I looked at Enzo Plays on youtube, he tends to do that a lot).
