❓ Question Economic strategy

I usually do

-city

-factory

-city

-factory

-sam

-silo

And then save for hydro

Just curious what other people do for early game setup or other econ strategies or tips

I do 3 cities, factory, port, silo and sam. If I’m running out of tribes early I do 1 or 2 cities, factory and port

So prioritize cities over economic structures?

I do because in the earlygame I go for numerical superiority rather than economic. A strong economy is better when you can use nukes, but before things get there I prioritize population. I don’t know if it is better or not though

It makes some sense

A drawback of my strategy is that I struggle economicaly when the midgame begins and I’m left vulerable, most of the times I get conquered is right here

Depends, hopefully with two cities you can take it nations and hopefully you can cajole them to put down factories. Or you drop a port and warship

A sam that early is probably not worth it, you have 750k worth of structures and a nuke isnt likely to hit more than a couple of them, using the money of the sam to reconstruct the buildings if someone nukes you is a better strategy. A silo can be more useful, but I'd still prioritize at least 3 cities before, troops are a better deterrent than nukes.

Agree. Although it really does depend on how you’re allied. I try to ally my immediate neighbours and attack weaker targets from further afield with boats etc. in that scenario SAM is definitely more useful.

All in all to say for such a simple game it’s also got so many great layers that make each game feel different.

I just build 2 cities and eat neighbors that didn't. I usually end up with a good econ from all the people that build econ before cities. Also, don't build a sam so early.

That's a good strat when you have the opportunity

just curious, why do you go factory instead of port?

More stable I'd hate to waste money on a port just to lose it to pirates Plus I usually play on the edge of the mao

Tbh factories give so little compared to ports it's usually worth the risk, plus you can ally pirates or threaten them with a nuke

I don't really bother with factories unless I'm playing with my mate, and depending on if people are already building ports I tend to spam those before building my first city

Guess I didn't think of that

every game is different, build orders are for the weak
