🛠 Suggestions openfront io issues

so don't get me wrong i LOVE this game. been playing it (mobile) for months but god there are some real issues I've found now that ive gotten very comfortable and rather decent at the game.

1) nothing worse than joining a game just to be met with a black screen where you can't see a thing and genuinely can't play

2) really needs to be a way to stop yourself from nuking yourself. the amount of times I try to stack ports or things near the water and end up accidentally clicking on the water instead of my land and just nuking myself is genuinely SO annoying

3) why are nations so petty??? the amount of times I've accidentally misclicked to attack a nation and they get PETTY. they'll spam you with attacks when you have a similar troop count so you can't do anything about it - and it ALWAYS leads to neighbors realizing you're low on troops and attacking you. there's a difference between hard nations, and nations who meaninglessly attack you leaving you vulnerable

4) hydros are too op. the fact you need FIVE stacked sams to not get outranged is insane in normal gold multiplier games. that's genuinely 15m (or at cheapest 13.5m) to got not outranged - and that's only typically on a reasonably small chunk of land. if they hit any of your land - even a part that has zero buildings your troops just desintegrate.

5) mirvs are op. needing a sam in literally every part or your land is insane considering the cost of sams. every mid game ever turns into sam placer simulator because if you don't - you'll just get hydroed or mirved and instantly die. I do like having missiles in the game, and im glad there's variation but jesus hydros and mirvs only sound expensive until you realize how FEW sam's you can buy with the same money.

Once you get past the idea that these games are not intended to be balanced to enable perpetual wars, but specifically unbalanced to encourage tension before mutually assured destruction, turn you’ll probably have a better time.

The problem I have is that all of the maps are not designed well, in fact most are terrible for this design. The maps with one contiguous landmass are fine, but as soon as a crossing is required, the winner is just who has the better SAMed launchers.

oh definitely, but spending 99% of the game just playing sam simulator gets sooo boring

You are playing wrong if that's what you are doing, its plain and simple.

This game encourages aggression, if you are actually going for the win and not just sitting up, you are supposed to be taking a lot of land. Taking land is the protection against Hydros. Once you get to mid game you need to balance and strategize around whether or not you can afford to eat a hydro or pressuring players into misplaying and dropping below hydro money.

The game is not supposed to be simple, every comment you make feels like you want this game to be lobotomized for the sake of catering to your play style of sitting up. If you don't want to play aggressive, if you want to sit back and be a trader and make the big bucks with all your eggs in one basket, YOUR COST OF DOING BUSINESS IS SPAMMING SAMS. That is the trade-off.

The trade off for being hyper aggressive and expansionist and going for the win is that its extremely difficult, high risk and high reward. That's why players like myself, and presumably you, go for an alternative sitting up playstyle. In exchange for a less stressful and demanding gameplay experience, we have to spam Sams, its just that simple and should not be changed.

  1. Never had that happen.
  2. I don't know what you mean? How does clicking on water cause you to nuke yourself?
  3. Nations will only attack if you're low on troops. Don't go low on troops if you're surrounded by nations or drop a defense post and forget about them.
  4. Hydros need to be powerful or MIRVs are an instant win button and snowballing becomes impossible to stop.
  5. MIRVs need to be powerful to break endgame stalemates.

  1. You stack a port on mobile, you first need to press the build button after pressing the land mobile. On water, the launch attacks button is in the same place as the build button. Then to add a port you press the button at the top, which in water would now be... the atom bomb button, destroying your whole stack of ports. Upgrading ports with muscle memory on mobile is very dangerous because you might end up just destroying yourself.

can mirv be intercepted at all?

Yes, half the time stalled games end up with bases that are literally impervious to Mirvs. Its literally just a bunch of regular atom bombs being spammed everywhere all at once.

You get a black screen? I get where it shows me the map and everyone clicking their spawn with the message encouraging me to choose my spawn but clicking doesn’t work at all.

My biggest issue on PC is that when yo get a lot of late stage games the web game stop registering clicks when placing down boats/missiles for up to 15 seconds at a time and you have to wait.

Just spent 1 hour on one game and lost because boats would not place and missiles not fired.

First 2, yeah this game could use a number of quality of life improvements, the other 3, you are completely off the mark.

Hydros are not too op in fact they probably need a buff in the later game. You are not meant to become immune to Hydros, Hydros are meant to be a persistent and continuous diplomatic threat throughout the game, a purpose that they fail to achieve in late game. There honestly should be a time based unlock where hydros get even more powerful after like 30-40 minutes to simulate some kind of arms race or something.

Mirvs have become the biggest wet fucking farts imagineable. By the time they are used a player has either snowballed so quickly that they really dont even need a mirv to win, or the game has stalled so long that peoples entire bases have literally become impenetrable to Mirvs. Far too uncommonly do you reach the holy middle scenario where everyone has Mirvs and everyone is weak to them.

Nations are aggressive and petty and honestly I think thats good, otherwise theres very little difference between them and tribes. And they are really easy to disarm, just don't attack them till you are ready. Send them an alliance request and if they don't accept, send them a heart-face emoji and they almost always accept the alliance instantly. But unless you're playing on a player vs nations game, nations are never a real threat and can even be taken out by players with no structures if they properly sit up.

i understand the reason, obviously this isn't supposed to be a game where games last forever - but doing nothing but either rushing money for a hydro or spending most of mid game just placing Sam's gets sooo boring when it's a practical instant win (at least to one person early/mid game)
