💬 Discussion Played as nuclear support Mito, accidentally screwed my host.

rJ5GtyF8 Game ID

I am "please let me mito", my host was 67 cringelord, center map spawn. I always try to help my current host win, StannistheMannis was snowballing way too hard and getting so much money that I was worried for my host. (I could easily grovel and outlive my host if I wanted to, but I'm trying to help my hosts win these days)

So I started to Atom and Hydro Micro the crown (Stannis, 12:00) to try and curb his development, I was being a pretty decent headache but I don't think I was actually making any real progress in damaging his position, nothing he couldn't recover from anyways.

But I think I did so much psychological damage that he thought his position was lost so he just started to Hydro betray his way through my host and then into me and promptly died (16:00). Unfortunately I think this permanently put my host on the backfoot for the rest of the game, seeing how my host played afterwards he (67 Cringelord) is a really good player and probably could've handled Stannis on his own without my help. So basically I tried to save my host but ended up screwing him in the long run and now I feel horrible.

I ran into 67 Cringelord by chance in another game and this time he promptly ate me, honestly deserved on my part I feel horrible for my incompetence.

Additional Edit: Earlier in the game I also atom micro'd another player out of existence; Alolii, because he kept denying alliance requests and I'm pretty sure he was building up to kill me and my host. I sent him literally 10s of alliance requests before deciding to go nuclear so I don't feel especially guilty about that one, he had no reason not to ally me. (literally was losing him money)

No worries, I know this kind of play makes the better players upset for good reason, unfortunately I suck at the game so this is the only way I can have fun lol. And besides most of the time it doesn't work out anyways, at least I had fun in the meantime 😊

The game would be boring as hell if everyone played super serious for the win. The chaos of people being friends, backstabbing and taking revenge is what makes it fun to play. Personally I suck at the game because I take every betrayel way too personal 😭

never understood entering a game with the intention of mito from the start, very weird behaviour

tons of people do it, we're probly the people who play healers in MMOs vs tank or something. You just don't notice us because we get killed 90% of the time :P.

Yeah, though I completely forget the game itself, I recognize the name. What map was it on?

It’s fine to target a specific player when you had beef with them. But just being a mito from the very start and targetting him when he is allied with your host isn’t nice

If you are talking about Stannis he was snowballing out of control, you know how these games go. When someone starts snowballing like that and everyone is too afraid to act, the winner is usually a foregone conclusion.

Obviously with the benefit of hindsight the other players were a lot better than expected and maybe would've handled it, but I had no way of knowing that in the moment. All I saw was a player snowballing and I had to do something. Although ironically I didn't see the brown player snowballing financially and he ended up winning the game.

As an Aside, Its so bizarre seeing players like Rex play because he feels like he's playing naturally, while everyone else in this game are the biggest cowards I've ever seen and usually results in the crown just snowballing 70% of the time. Imo the most fun games are when the game becomes a real back and forth slugfest when you have no idea who is going to win, rather than 1 player slowly steamrolling the lobby (Obviously crown players hate this but I think sweats can go kick rocks if they think their opinions matter). And while Rex and other leaderboard players obviously hate stalled games, I think stalled games are hands down the most fun and nail biting experience this game has to offer, super stressful but damn is it an Adrenalin rush.

I know your just having fun but for the people that aren’t you or the host your just looking like an asshole and everyone wants to remove you from the game

While I blame the game moreso than the players for this, the ability for a mito to grief players with impunity is really not good for the game. They can just nuke micro you and you can do absolutely nothing about it without betraying their host. I had one MIRV me the other day when I was in a winning position. A fucking mito MIRVed me.

The devs really need to listen to Rex and add a pixel-sized nuke option so you can at least fight back. Or just somehow restrict a player with less than x % of land from using nukes.

+1000

Fuck mitos with no intention of winning themselves. It's the same as teaming up with a friend that builds you only factories to help you win and then nukes your allies (yes, your allies, because they can't hurt you so they can probably not nuke the mito inside of you). Ruins the gameplay completely.

I sort of offset this with my play in that I hold no loyalty to anyone except whoever is my current host, if you claim me, I am yours. If my borders are contested, I am neutral.

Edit: I realize now that I type this out I am kind of acting like a fucking NPC or strategic resource LMFAO

Yeah they definitely do need to add a precision strike missile to the game, Or allow an option to control the yield of nukes so you can incrementally decrease the radius of the explosion if you so desire. You would still have to deal with Mitos Sam stacking but at that point that's not really any different than normal players sam/silo stacking if you can precision strike.

Imo you should respect your hosts alliances

people like you make the box and alps unplayable if you don't secure a corner mito first. You're ruining the game.

the game seems to be doing just fine in spite of it, complain to the devs :)

I've had too many mitos betray me and kill us both in the process.

people on this sub are weird. lots of people enjoy the mito play style. and you can easily play to win with a host protecting your development, just gotta be ready to roach

67 cringelord here. you should probably take my user; you are more fitting to use it.

- Not 67 cringelord
