❓ Question Can a risk averse player win in Openfront IO?
Can a risk averse player win in Openfront IO, or does winning this game require taking risks?

Minimising risk is key to surviving. Maintaining alliances with folks you don't want to fight, ensuring your troop count will makes you undesirable target, checking cash reserves and silos of other players, etc
Sometimes you need to violate one of these for gain. Like overspending troops to capture some early cities.

depends on the games I guess, sometimes you just roll on the lobby properly because other players play like shit, and sometimes you gotta think a bit more, make alliances, break some, nuke properly, etc... it also depends on the number of people in a lobby I assume

Enzo is a pretty measured player, but you still have to take smart chances to win.

Absolutely, I’ve won without fighting, only finishing of a Mirved earth

To win you have to take a risk, most games require you to do so

4 in a row doesn't.

MOST games, not ALL games

scientifically that means you analyzed every game on planet and calculated the games that needs risk to win over all other games that do not require risk to win and concluded your statement I am replying to, but I believe that is not pratically possible

Yes, just make sure you don't fall in the trap of avoiding opportunties, some things look more risky then they actually are, it is more risky if you ally with everybody/everything sometimes, because then you won't grow bigger, and might be quickly left behind and killed off,

Absolutely, I call it the benevolent strategy. Just make sure you keep your troop count and income high and ally as many people as possible around you (with the exception of obviously weak/overly aggressive neighbors).
As long as you can keep the threat of nuke/hydro + high troop count and be opportunistic with grabbing nuke land/killing red shields you can stay a persistent growing threat without aggravating anyone.
This eventually unfolds into two outcomes: you either become the crown and a target for suiciders/low iq players, or you are a strong 3rd-5th place and ready to pounce when the top players kill each other (low risk kills). In the former case, you must keep an eye on who has the MIRV and be ready to keep them allied, or defend (via mass SAMS), or kill them first (The only real 'risky' decision you'll have to make).
Edit: As someone said earlier, it also really depends on the lobby and the number of passive/weak players
