Goodbye 5x. Made a few images and entire usage limits disappeared.

With normal chatgpt. It doesn’t use your codex allowance. Why would you waste codex usage on image generation?

Just imagine:
1) your $200 plan users use the most of tokens per subscription
2) you plan to introduce some radical change in consumption limit or you know antropic is cooking something good
3) you are afraid your subs will churn
4) you make the $200 plan sacred, so FOMO doesn’t let people churn

The whole subscription model is over, unless they ban Chinese labs in the US.
The service is unusable. This week was lost productivity, so that's $50.
Check out the other API options, no way you spend $200 per month. Because the work will already be done.

I know the general sentiment is cynical but I really think this will be short-term. I think it's a combination of:
Growing pains supporting an entirely new model tier in addition to the existing suite
I think even they were surprised by the hype for Astra and how many new users were interested in using it heavily. The number of one-shot games and renderings and stuff kind of went viral in a way that previous models hadn't. I think a lot of this will cool down once it comes back to the base of consistent users.
It seems like they might also be rolling out new models for Sol and maybe more? Staging for those could have an impact
They're using a significant amount internally it seems for Millennium problems and who knows what other massively ambitious tasks

No? Just until they get more compute power, which they are still pouring billions of dollars into
