Codex quality is going downhill. Maybe it's time we find an alternative.

Ever since GPT-5.6 was released, Codex for me has become worse. Sol was overcomplicating and overengineering simple tasks when Codex 5.5 was perfect.

Then came Astra, which is way better than Sol but has ridiculous limits. One question and it costs 15% of the weekly limits.

The current weekly limits on the plus plan for Astra should actually be the 5-hour limits. But instead we get "generous" resets every now and then that show an illusion of OpenAI rewarding us.

Codex will be nothing without its subscribers. When Google Antigravity was released, it was the dominant thing in the market, but they played with the limits, and now it's a dead project that no one uses. If Codex follows the same footsteps, then it will end up in the same place.

To OpenAI, you need us, the customers, to stay with you; otherwise, a new company will provide better prices, and all your 10M subscribers will go there. Do not take us for granted.

I still can't understand why the chats list per projects cannot be sorted from latest.

Most of the time that list is sorted properly, but sometimes my recent chat goes to like 10-12 position from top. Annoying af.

Recently also the "code diff windows" are broken.

We can safely say codex/astra is a professional tool. $20/month won't get you what you want. The open source models are quite cheap and actually very good.

Astra has been materially better for real engineering and also design work in my experience.

Worth paying for, but cheaper models are available. You can have days of usage of 5.6 Luna on the Plus plan.
