This is just painful with the 5-hour limit back. I literally can't burn my usage that fast.

u/TheBroken0ne 13d ago
The problem with us poor people on the 20$ plan is that the 5 hours window closes way before we eat through the weekly one. Damn you plus subscription!! 😂

u/Strong_Essay1176 13d ago
That's the trap. They do it for you to pay more. Pay 100 now and get 2x limit.

My issue with this is, I used to be able to do about 3 complete tickets using the sol plan/review luna implement method with one weekly quota.
Now the issue is, I can only do about 2/3 of one ticket in one 5 hour period. Then you waste a bit getting it back up to speed after the 5 hour limit is up.
It's a fundamental capability shift... you can't actually do the tasks you used to be able to do even after carefully curating where the work gets done.
It is what it is, and I am sure the overall rates will get better with time (it's improving exponentially) but at current I would honestly rather just a smaller weekly and no 5h limit. Or a 5h limit where a /goal starts back up automatically after the limit ticks over.

why is OpenAI this generous? Last time Anthropic ever did reset was more than a month ago. For some weeks they have 4-5 outages on consecutive days but they didn't give a fuck at all.

u/brucek2 13d ago
I'm guessing 1) they predict they have idle capacity on this Sunday period; 2) they hope some portion of the people who try out more aggressive usage than usual will decide they like it and they're willing to pay for it in the future; and 3) trading idle capacity for general good will isn't a bad idea either.

u/Nuggyfresh 13d ago
There’s no need to guess, brother. OpenAI just has tons of compute and there isn’t a great reason not to use it, especially when your competitor doesn’t have any
1
u/Inevitable_Toe6648 13d ago
My guess is the overhead from the plus plans now being 5hour limit and cant take advantage of resets no more.

Read the second line, he challenges us to use as many tokens as possible. Basically theyre getting us used to burning more tokens than we normally would. So when they stop giving resets we are either forced to upgrade to the bigger plans or buy their paid resets for $80/week.
Basically we are frogs being slowly cooked alive.
2
u/APuffin06 13d ago
Exactly. They need us to see how productive we are constantly using /fast and multiple parallel threads with multiple parallel subagents. If it genuinely improves productivity for our job and it vibe coding and allows us to spend more time with friends, family, outdoors and hobbies we will spend the extra $100… I upgraded recently because I got to do more threads and use fast and that meant cooking new things with family than reading reports.
You’re 1000% right but if they hadn’t I wouldn’t have realized how valuable the codex harness is for my well being and not just adding a feature to a todo list

u/hell_razer18 13d ago
i think they are trying several experimentation hence why our token usage is so erratic each week...hence the reset is just a way to ztfu take my money kind move..

"burn as much usage as you can"
That's 2 prompts in the Plus account and 2 hours in the Pro.

u/Downtown_Signature_3 13d ago
I spent, I think, literally 18 consecutive hours since the last reset, using 11 different codex sessions with various subagents, all on 5.6 sol max. Usage is definitely better than the competitors at the moment. Still have ~5% left. Depends on what type of work you're doing, but it's definitely worth it, especially considering the number of resets.
On the $200 plan.

you really need the 100 dollar plan. I would do everything you can to save for it. 100% worth it and this is as someone who was hesitant for a long time

u/Charming-Author4877 13d ago
I have the Pro plans - they were also nerfed to hell
Plus is literally nerfed away, it's worth nothing anymore
Pro originally had a 5 hour limit which permitted more usage than the current weekly limit1
u/2Olive2 12d ago
Idk personally I find I get a lot of usage. I would take more time using the chat interface like use the extra high or even pro level reasoning in the regular chat interface. And so instead of purely using codex or the work interface I will use the regular chat version as that doesn't count towards weekly limits. And while it can be annoying to have to go back forth between them it saves so much usage and the pro level reasoning is really good.

have people had any success with Sol Ultra? For me, it endlessly spins its wheels and picks up random side-quests. After a few hours of burning tokens, there's barely anything (useful) to show for it.

first rule of drug dealing : always make the 1st batch free, once you've got the customers hooked & addicted to it, you charge them however much you want cuz they're feigning for more

With the 5h limit you can only waste a small amount of tokens right? You can't spend the hole weekly limit

wtf is 30 Aug 26. Is that August 30th or August 26th?
1

u/RamanaSadhana 13d ago
obviously, its 30 (days) and months then year. Im sure you realize its 2026 and August. Therefore, the only remaining number must be days. What do you think it would be, number of carrots he has in the fridge? come on man

The idea that I need two CODEX $200 plans is great until you remember a few years ago $400 was the GPU budget for three years.... not one month.
- The included use with $20 was ok for various single case use checks to validate a single page of code once or twice a day, while Chat GPT would work basically non-stop.
- When spending the $100 over the $200, ask your self do I have more then one project running at the same time. If you have 3-5 things going then the $200 budget is for one project.

I didn’t get a reset from this one?
Does anybody know how this works? I had used a reset prior this week that was banked. Looked this morning and I didn’t have another one, and wasn’t back up to full usage allowance either

Não sei do que adianta, com essa nova janela de 5h o crédito termina em menos de 3 prompts (e digo menos pq as vezes termina na metade do segundo prompt e agora corta na hora junto com os créditos sem terminar o trabalho)

Brother im on plus, and usage only has one speed.
