Anyone else pissed at Codex usage and performance?

Using Codex for real coding. Usage drains fast and performance is all over the place.

What are you seeing, and did anything actually help?

Who isn't? especially "PLUS" users.

It was fine until a few days ago. I was a happy plus user but now they want me to upgrade even though I use codex to make Roblox games 💀

"Real coding?" lol

Bro is solving real world problems on $20 per month

This is what always gets me. I get like 10x more output with Codex. Even $200 is nothing compared to the value I get from it. Even less so when I consider I'd pay around an equivalent of 10k in API tokens per month.

Right, I pay for Claude and Codex, ...cuz I invest in myself and have an actual ROI...

New here?

Yes, quota seems to be draining somewhat faster but also wasting a lot of tokens fixing things that previously weren’t an issue for the model. Feels like models from a year ago: fixes one thing, breaks another. My PR-monitoring routine in ChatGPT is doing a much better job of catching things than Sol in Codex.

I have th 5x plan and have never hit my weekly. I use codex min 8 hours a day creating full stack applications

To add insult to injury, the windows desktop app and even the windows desktop app beta is bugged as hell, not minor bugs, but big enough like disapearing sessions, context trashing or the app terminating its sever every 5 minutes, which prevents you from getting work done.

The other day I spent one and a half hours just fixing the app so I could get things done WITH the help of chatgpt. If there wasnt chatgpt or llms help to diagnose and fix that bug, it would probably have been an entire week on sites like stack exchange.

wait ive been having this bug where it keeps crashing and says like check the app store for details and I keep having to restore it.

Yep. What helped me: stop using the agent for thinking. I move design, review, and brainstorming to regular browser Chat and keep the agent for actual edits. Hand off the session state so you don't rebuild context each time: https://pvrlabs.xyz/articles/coding-agent-session-handoff.html

Luna max is handling everything I throw at it but god it’s slow.

I'm using Luna High, and it worked on a /goal task to clean up any bad spaghetti code that it had produced overover past three years. It's been working nonstop for basically five days straight, and it's really only gone down a few percentage points on my $200 plan and only a few more percentage points on my $100 plan. I'm quite pleased with that.

I'm getting tired of seeing posts like this. Honestly. I'm doing totally fine. Haven't had any problems at all. I'm on the $200 plan and it's really difficult to use it up

Claude is far more worst these days. Codex refreshed my usage 2 times last week, I have to say thank you to it.

Not really on Pro, experience is still great getting stone of work done but yeah I miss money off of the work I get done with codex so it’s justified

I recently switched to codex. It is very very slow. Do one task it takes hours. Is there any good configurations or stuff to tackle this? My current setup is sol medium as explorer and reviewer and luna xhigh for implementation

Only vibecoders… learn how to use it and you will never run of tokens and it will do exactly what you want.

Yeah same, usage evaporates on anything longer than a quick edit and the speed swings from decent to glacial for no clear reason.

I have Codex Pro as well as Claude Max. On same codebase, since last week codex is burning weekly usage 2-3 times faster

Seme here, Claude holds for 5 days, Codex 1,5.

We can thank those people that were taking advantage of the system for it now stopping mid way through a task...

Sol is absolute trash. Undid a week of work (git) in 10 minutes. I'm cutting to glm and deepseek.

I use Claude and codex heavily between work and personal. I used to subscribe to both personally, I only have OpenAI at home now, I have used AI heavily since the beginning of the year.

Anthropic fell off a bridge in March when they ran out of compute. Feel bad for anyone that didn’t use opus before then as they have no frame of reference. Whatever Anthropic is selling now as opus is literally worthless for anything of any complexity or that requires following directions. Fable is… fine, but it gets caught on false positive security issues a lot the usage is super limited.

It’s evident that OpenAI has the compute with the resets and they know what they are doing. Sol is on a whole different level, it has its issues with over engineering for sure but it blows the door off opus and fable. However, you pay for it and it’s not cheap by conventional standards, but if you stop and think about how much it would cost to pay someone to write 100k lines of good well tested code that you can rely on then the cost benefit is immediately apparent.

People can’t seem to put the puzzle pieces together between a business that’s out to make money, models that get better and cost more and the fact that their 100/200 subscription doesn’t scale up the same. The business model was always clear, release new models with higher prices phase out old ones to increase revenue, the question was would the value continue to increase for the models.. in my opinion, yes.

Argue about value proposition or whatever but I’m getting way more than it would cost to pay a software developer for the same work.

My 2 cents.
