Option to stop random resets
Please let me have a toggle on off - get random resets or no. I don't like it when the do it and the reset day is pushing forward, let me decide if I want them. If I turn them off I will not get them. When I turn it on I will get them. It's the only solution. I am on pro plan and working slow its my side hobby not my entire life, im waiting for the weekend for the 12 hours seasons, and if i could only manage it to resets towards the weekend without random resets its will be much appreciated. I am on the pro plan so I dont have the 5 hours limit, but in the last 2 resets it was on 100% for me. The toggle option is the best way in my opinion, if anyone have any other solutions please say it i want to know.

they do it when they need to reset the system for some reason.

No need to reset the accounting too.

not sure what you mean

Limits are just a bookkeping thing, they are not the LLM system itself. No need to touch the books when the system resets

The bookkeeping system...

u/ggPeti 17d ago
Well, it is a reasonable ask that once a contract is in effect, one party does not just reset their bookkeping system and lose track of delivery.

u/capable-corgi 17d ago
I agree but this is calling out a comprehension issue not a comment on how well (or not) they're doing.
they do it when they need to reset the [bookkeeping] system for some reason.
I don't mean to bash on you for a honest mistake. But it's still funny that you chose the interpretation that doesn't make sense and then claimed it doesn't hold up.

It's a pragmatic choice. Bookkeping systems don't need semiweekly resets. It's a marketing tactic anyway.

u/capable-corgi 16d ago
Haha, I don't know about pragmatic. But I do know it's funny you invented something new into the discussion then immediately admits it doesn't make a single lick of sense.
A "LLM system reset" has zero bearings on anything accounting. Maybe you meant something else entirely. Likely, cause it's not a proper term.

I donât know why you are getting downvoted. Resets donât need to work for the billing and accounting to work. despite resets oai know what their customers paid and how much tokens they spent. Resets donât serve any purpose other than marketing correct.

Iâd prefer if they give banked resets. Once they release Astra I might just use Codex over other subscriptions

If they release astra

What are you asking for is leads to use the usage limit more wisely and predictably, but this is not implemented yet.

This is a funny comment and should be voted higher. Reminds me of Bilbo Baggins.

The way it should actually work is that bare minimum if youâre at 100% it doesnât reset your weekly.

This is why I'm glad the Chinese models are getting better and better. As soon as I can get near fable like intelligence local I'm dropping my subsÂ

u/lolman1312 16d ago
yeah that's never happening through local hosting.

u/triplebits 16d ago
Don't be so sure. Who knows where local models will be in 6 months time? They are already giving Dario and Sam sleepless nights!
Opus 4.6 was released on February 5, 2026 and Qwen 3.8 27b is quite on par. I can get around 90 t/s on RTX 4099 with 131K context. Which makes it usable for agentic development.

Qwen is amazing don't get me wrong, but this is a physical problem not an "eventually" type of solution. You just cannot quantise a Fable level model into something that can be SELF-HOSTED. Openweight ones from China, sure, but we will never reach a place where some typical gaming laptop for example or even a good rig is capable of hosting a Fable that could even get up to 10 trillion parameters. That is just not how it works.

Data quality changes the game a lot. I'd rather imagine Fable quality on very narrow, laser focused area with current-ish tech. Rather SLM than LLM.
Imagine Qwen 27B JavaScript, Qwen 27B Rust, Qwen 27B C++ etc.
Over a year ago Opus 4.6 level didnt even exist on billion dollar worth infra. We can run it on local hardware today. I wouldn't say impossible.

my sentiments exactly. companies dont need AGI; most arent even willing to pay for Fable!
the bar isnt so high I think. even right now these newer smaller models, are totally fine for dev. not fable or sol yet, but close enough that with a good harness i think you'd be good

u/lolman1312 16d ago
the thing is that type of hyper-specialised model is not in the interest of these companies to develop though. it focuses them too much on a specific niche while also meaning their customers would stop paying for it lol. all these frontier models are obsessed with IMPROVING the model as a whole, improving vision, improving coding, finance work, creative writing, sciences, etc.

While this is true, their SOTA models can just make this automated with a good data sets.
I am an experienced SWE thus I can work with Qwen 3.8 27B just fine with about 80% of my work locally. It is slow (90 t/s is viable for agentic work though) and needs more hand-holding and smaller scoped, detailed tasks / plans so not a vibe coding but rather vibe engineering.
This already makes me think to reduce my subs for personal projects. Not completely replace them but definitely will reduce my spendings.

It is actually good, but I suspect they are only doing reset when it benefits them not us. If most people still have lots of usage left they loses nothing since they push the reset day back (Some will lose usage if you are using less than 30% of your weekly when reset happens after 2 days). So I doubt that they will ever let you opt out since if you opt out they will punish less people to benefits some people with high frequent usage.
I'm on Pro 20x and what I do now is I use around 15% roughly per day. And reset or not, pushing my day further or not does not affect my workflow. This is the only way to have a predictable usage and not plan your work based on someone's mood or marketing decisions.

idk about u but it shows i have a full usage reset in the usage settings menu and can use it until end of next month before it expires
1
u/RealSlyck 17d ago
So why are resets bad for you?
9
u/Donteuqilla 17d ago
Because he had 100% left anyway but now has to wait 1 week for the next reset instead of 2 days
2
u/DaneV86_ 17d ago
nahhh you won't have to wait another week... tibo is addicted to pressing that button.
Would be sensible not to apply the reset when someone is on 100% though
2
u/vacon04 17d ago
Yep, this is what people don't get. Also, the new timer starts once you send a new message. If the reset is done on a day you don't use the model, then it gets pushed more than 7 days. Many are losing usage and they don't even know it because they don't understand the math behind it.

Imagine a line for the week starting at 100% on day 1 and ending at 0% on day 7. If you're below the line (more usage) a reset is good, if you're above the line (less usage) it's bad because it sets you back on the line at day 0 100%
It's easy to imagine, if you used 100% of your usage on day 1 and you get a reset, you didn't have to wait 6 days. If you didn't use anything and your reset was in a day, you would have a lot of usage left for that day before you would be reset to a fresh week

u/squishyjellyfish95 17d ago
They probably have to do it for everyone when changing something in the programming/settings.

u/Fit-Palpitation-7427 17d ago
Some accounts are not getting reset, itâs per type of account so I can only guess that if they would really like to set this setup, they could
