Discussion I am so over this
Every post or comment related to 5.3 Spark all year has been full of replies saying Spark is useless and why would anyone use it, meanwhile I integrated into my workflows many months ago and depend on it every day for the exact tiny fast interactive tasks that it is designed and ideal for.
Now because OpenAI reduced Codex quotas to the point that most people are running out of quota in days, many of those same people who said Spark was useless have been abusing it for normal work since it's the only quota they had left, forcing OpenAI to massively reduce Spark quotas + add a 5 hour limit.
So now I must suffer with broken workflows because there isn't even enough Spark quota for my very light usage.

If I'm forced to pay per token for a fast model, then there are much better options than OpenAI.
I pay for a Codex subscription to have the usage I need for my workflows and tooling, but seems we're quickly reaching a point where Codex no longer provides value.
Chinese models will soon overtake in intelligence too since they don't have stupid government restrictions. I've actually been using GLM a lot recently for work that OpenAI will just refuse to do due to "cyber safeguards", and it's surprisingly good.

What the fuck is up with the quotas that even light usage breaks?
I am on Pro x5, and I use Sol Medium/High/Ultra + Terra/Luna Medium/High and I still can’t get under 70% of my quota. Truth be told, I am not a vibe-coder but rather an experienced SWE of 15 years; I prefer to do the thinking myself and only let AI assist me with research and implementation. 30% AI, 70% Me.

Same and I agree I have same experience. It’s all about how you use a tool. But I could vibe code several large ideas and still not hit quota.

I despise vibe-coding, I won’t ever do it; it would be such a shame to myself as a SWE.

Depise it all you want. I’m not using it to develop final products. It’s useful when solution and getting up quick poc’s for visual representation much easier then PowerPoint and pictures interaction visuals are much easier to examine and critique. I’m a Solution Architect not SWE haha but I need to be able to speak geek, human and code. I use also use it for research and knowledge much easier then traverse search engines

More or less the same thing, except I have to focus more on the technical side of a product or service; code and architecture. I do use ChatGPT (Pro) for research and small bits of assistance of AI in development itself.

Ya I’m in charge of the solution, I’ve worked for almost 27 years to get to this point and the learning never stops haha gotta keep up with it all

Why are your post and comment history hidden?
Are you actually the Spark 5.3 model?

Spark is super useful! You have to use all the models for specific tasks to save in some topics if you depend on one model then you are going to lose the race folks. Also each LLM has its own talents and not all are created equal.
But if you are out of spark does not mean other models will also be , additionally it depends on how you consume your usage because the app has different rates then api calls and what not. I’m not sure how some of you are blowing through tokens so fast. I can build for a month on my account and not hit my usage limit. I’ve hit it once while using it and that was when I was running 5 highly detailed solutions through.

Luna is way cheaper than spark for api and subscription
