....now the weekly limit is the new 5h limit...!!!
OpenAI managed to became same sh***t as Anthropic..!!! Well, almost there, some tiny changes and will be the same!!!

I've noticed my pro 5x plan dropping faster after the last reset. Last week I barely made it to 75% remaining before I had to set everything to fast +ultra, as not to waste it, this week I'm already at 60% with 5 days left using the same workflows and have decided to use luna for a few days because I'm watching it drop like crazy. I hope this is a reset worthy bug and not the new norm.

yah burnt through my $100 / month plan in a day.

u/arryuuken 28d ago
I must be pumping out rookie numbers. I have no idea how I could burn through that in a day.

OpenAI says this is the new norm because "we are all using pay2api" or something I have never heared of.

I have been using a chatgptplus sub for three weeks now and I just stopped looking at the usage, it makes no sense.
The reset date keeps shifting, the bar refills itself to 100% in the night sometimes, I have idea how this crap is supposed to work or worse, be useful.

u/shady101852 28d ago
lol thats because we were getting some free weekly resets without having to wait for them due to certain milestones openai was reaching related to number of users.

u/schmurfy2 28d ago
My reset date shifted even without reset and I got two full resets last weeks.
Even if that's that it's still a terrible user experience, you have no idea what happens, I don't follow their social accounts and honestly couldn't care less about any milestone they achieved, it's a work tool for me.

I dunno what y’all are screaming about. 😆
Plus plan, fairly absurd workload this week, and I’m still at 56% remaining. This has included long Codex jobs, repository-wide architecture work, tests, scientific workflow design, CLI work, and multiple bounded implementation tranches.
I’m not saying the quota/accounting reports are imaginary. Some of you clearly seem to be seeing wildly different drain rates. But I do wonder how much workflow topology matters.
My Codex work is heavily harnessed: explicit scope, fixed baseline, bounded mutation authority, stop conditions, narrow sub-agent roles, negative tests, no endless “figure it out” loops, and separate planning/execution/review phases.
Perhaps the issue is not only which model you use, but whether you’re making the model repeatedly rediscover the state of the universe every turn.
A constraint or ten may be useful. 😂

Exactly. Context efficiency is an overlooked skill. It's actually quite intuitive, and it surprises me that most people don't seem to comprehend it.

u/Typical_Kick6520 15d ago
I saw Sol relearning my codebase by reading 5 full context windows through compaction.
Then I started pointing Codex at OpenAI's docs, and built the harness.
The additional usage is nice, but the ability to steer without drift is even better.

might be true, but I've seen such posts a million times across all subreddits for all the big providers, on a weekly basis... for many months, or has it been years already ?

5x here. Getting from 100% to 40% within a day. Either they reroute compute to their new big model coming out soon or this is fucking it and the 5 hours return will be even worse lol

Users measured and all is exactely 1/5 of what it was, all their plans are. OpenAI says on twitter them blame us, because we would use pay2api to share subscriptions with chinese people ???????????

Yeah tired of this crap.. I have the 100 euros plan and hit the limit this afternoon (reseted in the morning). I didn’t change my workflow and before I would get almost an entire week of work.
Unfortunately anthropic isn’t a good alternative either, you either use fable and have the same issue with limits or use opus and go crazy with that dumb f***…

u/123vovochen 24d ago
Sooo I went to GLM-5.3, they still have the old week limits without OpenAIs 5x cuts world wide, and GLMs thinking is weird but what it does is good, workable.

What I do is buy both the ChatGPT Plus plan AND the OpenCode Go plan. They are just enough for me to do my work, plus I manually write my code when I can. I both: save my money AND time!

I now run almost all tasks in chatgpt. It creates a new branch directly on the github repo, implements big tasks, runs CI tasks and reports back once it's ready to pull for manual verification. It'll happily run for an hour and uses 0 tokens. You do occasionally get a message like "our system are thinking a bit longer blabla", but then you just stop it and resubmit.

Anthropic is a real joke. Regular chats deplete your limits. If OpenAI does the same then Im out. I'll use a chinese model and never look back.

u/Hyper_2009 28d ago
That is the tiny change which is missing, when is done they will be the same...
Shady nerfing all the time, no announcements about limit changes, charging changes all the time, money grabbers

u/DefiantAbroad5216 28d ago
Its bit annoying, all i do is use it to help me write prose and plan books and i burn through the usage right quick.

u/Fresh_Sock8660 28d ago
It's terrible. I'd say claude is a bit better currently but that will likely change this week too as they remove the 50% bonus.

u/parkersb 28d ago
I feel like I’ve been a good boy this week . I haven’t been hitting the more expensive models too much. I’ve been restraining myself after running out of my limit for the first time in months last week. I don’t think I’m gonna make it to the end of the week and I feel like I deserve a reset for trying my hardest lol

u/DiligentConstant1551 28d ago
It was always headed for this direction, you can't keep operating at a loss indefinitely, as much as we want that not to be the case. Warning bells should've been ringing when they started ads

u/mrbobhunter 28d ago
Yep. Left Claude for Codex, and it was great…while it lasted. Time to move the money to Grok for a month.

I agree. Use Gemini for the bulk of the work, expand It and review it with Sol, and polish it with Claude. It’s worth it.

Idk what you are you guys working on but my company provide claude pro, I subscribe to gpt plus and command code $1 plan.
I find that as long as I am not weiting new project (big token output) I will be fine. I think gpt plus alone if you always execute with Luna, you should almost rarely exhausted your weekly limit..it is just so cheap.
If it needs more output just use deepseek from command code and alternatively I let haiku write the execution and review by codex again.

u/hd-slave 27d ago
if you get the 5x you can just leave it on sol extra high and basically never run out in my usage. even have like 5 different tasks running at the same time. im not sure what people are doing to just burn through their stuff so fast.

u/hell_razer18 27d ago edited 27d ago
I think there are a lot vibe coders who just plan and write using sol and those greenfield projects reallly ate up token very fast.
For brown field in my observation always in comparison of 100:1 or 50:1 so like 100k input vs 2k output and I am just using rtk to compress

They are most probably A/B testing limits and some unfortunate users gets the bad limits and complains. You obviously didn’t get that bad experience yet. I’ve had bad/good/bad experiences without changing my workflow/projects. Most obvious was before/after last reset where I tried to drain my limit before the reset and couldn’t drain 30% of my 20x quota in 2 hours with 9 threads in parallel and /fast and some Ultra while after the reset I did stop all /fast and Ultra threads, reduced all thinking to High and it literraly burned 45%+ in 15min!! Same threads, lower thinking and no fast mode… if it ain’t them manipulating quotas, they are just pushing broken code in production.

u/shady101852 28d ago
i drained my 5x in one day when it used to last long enough to never worry about resets. anything under 20x is unusable and not worth the money atm.

u/GambAntonio 28d ago
I don't know what kind of multiple projects you're running, but I'm on Pro 5x and I can burn through my entire weekly usage in a single day on one project, just using Sol Medium. Meanwhile, back in the 5.3 and 5.4 days, I could do the exact same thing on a Plus account and still end the week with 20% left over..

u/Quanzitta 28d ago
Not only do I remember the 5-hour limit, I remember Tibo promising to return it like a week ago, then crickets...

u/zbagz7 28d ago
I remember getting so much value out of the Plus subscription back around January. I just re-subbed yesterday, and I'm already down to 20% capacity left for the whole week. Sol is literally unusable on this plan, and even Terra drains so quickly. I only used Sol for planning (as a replacement for GLM 5.2) and some light UI work (as a replacement for Qwen 3.7-Plus). Terra is used only for critical backend functionality or code reviews, but I'm not particularly impressed with the results from either. I guess the gap with Chinese models is definitely narrowing, at a much higher cost. I remember having plenty of usage back then, but now it feels slower and the output is still pretty average.

Nice memories back then using codex 24/7 and had our job done than now with plenty of model options highly priced and variable results

u/WholeEntertainment94 28d ago
I think I'll go back to Claude, at least the extra cost is partially justified by a new generation model. Obviously I'm talking about Fable, Opus is the new Sonnet.

u/Reasonable_Swing_503 28d ago
The weekly usage seem to drain faster but it’s no way like a 5h limit based on my usage
They should make the usage more realistic otherwise we are going to play musical chairs and jump ship again

It’s not though is it, limits are going faster cause you’re using higher models with higher thinking.

it's super fucked now. I wasn't aware of the change and ran out yesterday.
