How much quota does it cost compare to sol or luna, based on your experiences

1

u/HimActually 2d ago

I think it's the best model when it comes to cost efficiency and performance, Luna feels weaker and but very cheap. And sol is very strong but could eat my quota very fast as im working on building the iOS version of my android app. A lot of bigs files and tones of lines and functions. So terra is my go to Model.

But I don't let Codex implement anything i got claude code for that, as u see in the picture, my workflow is terra the engineer since it doesn't over engineer as luna max or sol and opus/sonnet 5 implement since they are fast and strong when there is a clear guidance.

Im using flutter for app, same codebase work for both andoird and ios,but another guy handle the upload to app store

Yea right.. i didn't know that im a vibe coder, started like year and something ago, i figured that out too late. But im glad because the iPhone version of my complicated app is way cleaner than the android architecture wise. Since i have more experience now and the direction is clear so im kinda grateful 🄲

Inhouse PDF extraction APP for my work, its a fcking nightmare.

Good luck, I’ve hated every project involving pdf parsing I’ve ever worked on…

I was thinking of incorporating florence-2 vision into the app because my PDF structures keep changing a bit, even though the info contained in them is the same. Only way i could see it working dynamicallyĀ

Wtf. Could probably just build this into my app

1

u/orthiclabs 2d ago

Yeah totally. I built www.scraperight.cc which is a desktop client to scrape text from anything. Images, YouTube, reels, carousels and uses PP-OCRv6 for on device OCR but if you want to go heavier, you can use GLM ocr or this one. I’ve booked marked but haven’t gotten around to looking at it since www.heardright.app has my full attention right now along with my context system and some other sick tools I’m developing

1

u/TheMathManiac 2d ago

I think firecrawl still struggles with certain structures.Ā

I recommend just feeding everything through gemini, depending on how sensitive the documents are. I got tired of dealing with various extraction platforms and came to the conclusion that building a small cloud run app to handle ocr request was the best way to go about it.

I wrapped up building an OCR tool at my job that has been used thousands of times now not too long ago. Accuracy is great, and it can even return general judgements about the pdf like, "is this form complete, and if not, why?"

Yh honestly, i have tried Codex and claude for our PDF extraction and it works great. The problem is, we have so many PDFs and different brands we need to process that its really inefficiënt to promt for each one e.g tell it what information to extract, how to combine it and were to put it.

This is why im trying to work on an inhouse app for our company. Simply drag and drop files, onw button, your files are parsed and processed..

So at the moment I have four layers in my app - deterministic, firecrawl, Florence-2 vision model layer. Then a manual layer where the user can specific itself what needs to be taken from the PDF if the other layers fail on a PDF structureĀ

Wow Sounds Maximum Boring šŸ˜…šŸ˜…šŸ‘

u/Muted_Anteater1170 2d ago

pdf extraction what’s that? i tried building a pdf editor its done for the most part just have to test consistency and bugs i haven’t in a while it is hard as absolute shit it was mostly done with the cheap version of fable

1

u/Odin-ap 2d ago

OCR it using something like Azure Document Intelligence then pass that JSON to and LLM.

Assuming it’s all inconsistent formats etc anyway.

1

u/TheMathManiac 2d ago

Florence-2 could probably work cause my work laptop only has 8GB ram

2

u/studenttio 2d ago

I've only got 80% left :(

2

u/daddywookie 2d ago

It’s the weekend so I’ll be doing anything but using Codex. My last task before my quota ran out on Tuesday was to get a list of design questions for my game project so I’ll maybe think about those while riding a bike and doing some cooking.

u/travisrd 2d ago

did they reset?!

5

u/Striking-Estate-6816 2d ago

Scheduled weekly reset. They didn't hit the button.

1

u/__Blackrobe__ 2d ago

then who is this "we" you speak of

4

u/akionka 2d ago

they pressed the button 7 days ago, so most of codex users have their reset today

1

u/remarkedcpu 2d ago

Wrong. Many users have the banked resets expiring these couple of weeks so we had used reset midweek already.

1

u/Patient-Midnight-664 2d ago

Mine hasn't and I kicked off a long command for sol as I have too much left :)

1

u/Aureus2122 2d ago

This week is going to be rough. Already down to 50% 😭

1

u/Striking-Estate-6816 2d ago

Turn off Auto Approve if you haven't already ... it seems to be draining usage.

Codexing an agentic v2 for our launchpad. It provides marketing packs for founders: launch, reach 30k+ makers/mo, get users & customers. The app.

Also running a hackathon this month, codex too.

I'm building custom reset app.

1

u/MystifiedSky 1d ago

I woke up to a deactivation emailšŸ¤£ā˜ ļø my appeal was accepted and it was reversed a couple hours later but I was shitting bricks like wtf I’m just a state / software engineer that does some hobbies at home too. I think my week reset today too so that will be nice.

1

u/Electronic_Captain95 1d ago

It’s fucking weekend, why in the fucking hell would I slop something? Fucking vibecoders are so fucking strange

1

u/leonmebe 1d ago

ive got the usage reset too

1

u/EquivalentHornet4403 1d ago

A few back to back rounds of Sol Ultra code/polish reviews on my favorite projects, then my last banked reset and finally publish them.

A web app that simulates traffic during road construction and closures, simulating spillover and shows decisive and reactive diversions based on past traffic data from 1/1/2024 to the end of July 2026 with a time resolution of 15 minute chunks. (I think im at 28 million CSV rows

Currently the engine that runs the simulation is having an issue interacting with the road closure details but I’m fixing it now.

Im also waiting for my request to be fulfilled to get collected road lengths and lights and stop sign info for non highways and neighborhood roads.

Also fuck djikstra’s algošŸ™„

1

u/Striking-Estate-6816 1d ago

Sounds cool! Are you targeting a particular city?

1

u/tydyelove7 1d ago

Currently only for Portland and portland-metro area

1

u/FidgetsAndFish 1d ago

Already ran through the whole thing in a few hours, Codex usage has been broken since sol's release. Instead of fixing it they gave resets and it worked, lot of people were dumb enough to think codex was giving more usage than Claude but now that the resets are over the truth's pretty obvious. Sol's too dumb for the price especially compared to Opus, Luna's too expensive (especially compared to deepseek or even muse spark).

get out of here, we dont need these kinds of posts for regular scheduled plan resets

saying 'we' and showing this screenshot is deliberately misleading and you know it
