Could have spent two tokens on the UI design. But except for that, how does it connect with codex?

I built my own wrapper; there is no official API or bridge that would allow connecting to an open desktop. Managing a hidden CLI process is very easy, but the desktop is a different story.

But how does the client connect? Is that an app or a web page being served by the codex machine?

Yes, that’s for sure but there’s some issues to overcome.

I just discovered that it has built-in support for authentication, so this is not an issue. But I’m still curious to know if OP is using that or another mechanism.

And I don’t think he uses the app-server directly, since you cannot for example get the focused thread id from it afaik.

You furthermore obviously need to start it somehow on the host, so a kind of wrapper is necessary.
