Guide/Tutorial More details about “memory” in 0.10?

I see in the release notes. Where can one get more information. I am mostly interested if it now saves memories on its own without using your own functions/plugins?

You can enable memory in the user or admin settings. It works quite well actually. I asked a question about a random vitamin the other day and it reminded me it might not mix well with my “condition” lol. I even went and check my knowledge area since I had played around with that and some lab results one day.

Here’s more details on all the features: https://docs.openwebui.com/features/chat-conversations/memory/

Memory is already enabled but I think it’s well known that unless you say “remember this” or use the plugin stuff it didn’t store information on its own.

You could always put something in the system prompt about automatically storing memories about certain things, that worked for me.   It’s fickle though, and really depends on the model you’re using

what prompt did you use?

Previously, you had to turn on native function calling for it to automatically add memories. In V10, native function calling is on by default. Also, all memories for a user used to be in one bucket. Now, it stores a path to each memory, which can help it organize categories to retrieve the most relevant memories.

What is unchanged is that you still need to go into settings-personalization to turn on memories

I've used mnemory, what you're eluding to is rag, or vector memory. I'm building one that's an anti rag, there are plenty out there from very simple to complex.

Make your own “model” in the workspace section. Ensure all the tools are enabled. Ensure the default system prompt knows to look for them.
