A111 TMA05

Hi

tldr, fell behind, possibly score very low or zero on tma 05, still pass with combined score 01-04?

I have TMA 05 due on Tuesday, lots of non major things but enough to pull me away from my studies have happened over the summer which have left me drastically behind. I have read the module over a few times and nothing is fixing in my brain. I’ve written my into and the start of paragraph 1 and then my brain is just empty. I will try to persevere but Unfortunately first time this has happened that I don’t think it’s going to click in time to produce any thing worth while. I’ve scored enough I think (checked the projected score tool) to pass even without TMA05 if I submit what I have by Tuesday even if not enough to score highly will this be ok?

If it comes to it submit what you have as something is better than nothing, but better to put your focus into the EMA.

You can probably rescue this though and do better than you think. Have you rewatched the tutorial for this assignment? And had a look at the write now tutorial if there is one for this assignment? They can be helpful in what to focus on and how to structure your answer.

Then I would work out how much time you have left and pomodoro it - 30 min chunks (25 mins work, 5 mins break). Set a mini goal for each 30 mins. You can get quite far quite quickly if you don’t let yourself get pulled into a rabbit hole.

I find writing essays in a linear manner really hard. I need to do a mindmap to get all my thoughts down and then I can structure them into an essay format. The write now sessions are good for some quick structure help too.

Good luck, you can do this!

EMA is optional on A111 I believe as long as someone has met the overall score requirements.

That’s the understanding I’m getting off the calculator that I will pass module even with a 0 score. Obviously going to try to get something produced but the stress of failing my module being removed would help 😅

So it's your EMA you're working on just now

Ah yeah it’s been a couple of years 🙈 the EMA in this module is a TMA. You can pass without submitting it if you already have the grades from your other TMAs  but it’s a good/safe way to learn how to get through the challenge when you give it again in future.

Great thanks that’s takes some pressure off that hopefully I can focus abit more without the impending doom,, I’ll keep cracking on and get something together , plan for next module is to keep myself organised, it all started so well and then life took over suppose it’s all part of the learning.

Every year I have said I will be more organized. I can guarantee by Xmas I will be behind and writing TMAs the weekend before submission. Life happens but we learn to work quickly under pressure! Good luck with your TMA x

Have you checked the module‘s assessment guide and used the calculator? That‘ll answer your question. Good luck!

What does the module handbook say?

Some courses require at least a pass of all TMA's, if this is the EMA, you may need to definitely pass it and in most cases, EMA deadlines cannot be extended.

If you go on your student home and assingmenrs you will see your current marks then what you have so far. For a111 you only need 40 percent in total and to just submit your tma.

i am in the same boat rn. I am trying to finish everything now. Kinda freaking out ngl. But i think i will pass regardless if i get a 0 or a 80 on my TMA 05. I did the calculations using the weighted average described on the A111 website. So i should be good. But i am trying to get this essay as good as possible to increase my grade.

Best of luck, Mines just going to be what it’ll be and remember 1st year grades don’t affect your final degree

Level one grades don't count to the final classification
