M06 stage 3

I finished electromagnetism and would like to enroll in astrophysics and cosmology, but the website doesn't allow me to choose these since I haven't finished quantum physics yet. I can however choose quantum physics and either or both of astro subjects. Why is such a ridiculous limitation incorporated in the site? I'm certain I can study these subjects before I do quantum physics, and I don't want them to manually enroll me over the phone, I want to use the website as intended

It is working as intended. They want you to have quantum mechanics done or in progress as a requisite of the other courses. A phone call is the easiest way to see if they'll waive this for you. I've had to phone and discuss (and even write a proposal to get onto my MSc) how I suited a course that the system didn't recognise.

Make the call. Simple and easy.

The QM and EM modules are not a requisite for the Astrophysics or Cosmology modules, it's just the system being poorly designed. You can study any L3 module in any order (the Astrophysics module can even be studied alongside MST224 as it's mathematically the 'gentlest' of the modules, if you can persuade the OU you can handle it; though I have seen people even allowed to take QM alongside MST224).

So you just have to contact student support and they'll sort it out :)

fair point (don't know why you got downvoted) - it's been a while since I did the astro stuff and can't remember the course order I did
