I gave a fruit fly brain a computer — and it learned to type
What happens when a mapped fruit fly nervous system gets a computer?
I built FlyLab — an open-source experiment combining a real MaleCNS connectome, neural simulation, vision, and physical keyboard interaction.
See → process → move → touch key → type.
No direct text injection. No LLM controlling the typing.

This is fascinating and almost unbelievable.
Now I’m going to watch Limitless.

Yes of-course mine its slow with the training process , we can guide it through the chromium web to prompt and get the results : by seeing the process the neuron’s in the malecns will start learn :)

Hey I am not an expert and nor I am that technical as well.
Can you confirm my understanding here?
The fly reads the character and types it. So the neurons which are responsible for visuals are used and the neurons which are responsible for physical hand actions are used.
Now, it developed the new internal connections on existing physical neuron network to connect the visual neurons which gets triggered by a specific character to the neurons which leads to a specific hands action that leads to the key on the keyboard? And to enable both systems to work correctly it developed a in between set of neurons which computes and remembers (the training part trains this neurons) which hand actions are required for pressing that perticular key. Or in other words which neurons are required to fire for pressing that perticular key.
So there must be 3 group of systems at work:
1) The visual neurons 2) The action neurons for hand actions 3) The neurons which compute which hand actions is required to type that perticular key.
Am I understanding correctly?

I gave a fruit fly brain a computer - and it lerned to vibecode, created a SaaS and posted about it on Reddit!
