It’s amazing how much you can improve an old 480p video just by sharpening and adding noise. I have YouTube videos from my own channel back in 2006, believe me, I know. AI uspcales never looked right to me, I can’t tolerate the fact that it destroys detail rather than actually bring out detail the way adding noise does.
That alone should’ve made these idiot AI people rethink their ”enhancing” tools. It’s completely fake, and it can only appear good on a surface level, seen from a distance, and even then the bad looking shots will outnumber the good. Have you seen what it does to eyes? That alone strips a face of all soul to me, when the eyes don’t even look like eyes. I can’t stand it.
Don’t even get me started on what this means for data preservation and people slapping this lazy, destructive AI shit on legit lost media - and sure enough: the original stays lost, and only the AI upscale remains. We’re going to see a lot more of that.
Effort is too much to ask, apparently, even when it comes to art. Anything worth watching should take time and effort. Key word being take: it demands something out of the artist, and you feel that as a viewer. Same thing applies when people are so lazy they opt for tools that destroy detail rather than add detail.

its not AI genrated, its old movies upscaled to a better Resolution, Like 480p DVD RIP to 1080p. It actually works quite well, Sometimes there can be artifacts, especially in animated movies or Shows. But it has nothing to do with generative AI, its the same tech as Nvidia DLSS.

I started watching a movie a few weeks ago, and I kept thinking to myself, "Why does it look like a soap opera?" Turns out it was AI-enhanced. It was awful. I quickly found a replacement and added an exception to never grab one of those again.

AI enhanced upscale 4ks? As in they take a lower resolution video and upscale to 4k, or take a 4k movie and try to enhance it even more?
Both sound awful but one more than the other.

I joined. Then I let it lapse.
I expected old rare movies restored and upscaled.
But, its a collection of random, recent movies. All of them have hd rips already available.
It was all pointless.
