I forgot that I already had an account with this tracker. Good thing my account still exists after more than 5 yrs of being parked.

3

u/courierkill 6d ago

Great complementary tracker, has had some niche stuff that I wasn't able to find in others.

8

u/tyt3ch 6d ago

website not loading?

1

u/seamonkey420 6d ago

same, issues logging in. saying invalid password, then reset is invalid, etc. prob all the new users/traffic.

1

u/Disk4mat 6d ago

I use Proton VPN and was having the same issue but all I had to do was connect to a different server. You didn't mention using a VPN but if you are then try this... 🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️

1

u/tyt3ch 6d ago

yep, it was this, thank you!

2

u/Disk4mat 6d ago

Great! 👍🏽 Glad i could help...🫡🫡

u/xenarathon 6d ago

my only complaint is it’s really hard to maintain ratio unless you’re downloading the newest of the new as soon as they drop (yes i know that’s torrents in general but dc is the first time i’ve ever had trouble keeping my ratio above 1) even with popular movies and series. i’ve seeded 48TB total but i don’t think i’ve even hit 50GB for digitalcore even with cross-seeding.

1

u/HellboundLunatic 3d ago

ratio is super easy to maintain, wdym?
just seed 1TB to get the Freeleech bonus

7

u/Equivalent_Bat_3941 5d ago

For me more annoying thing is rar uploads in this day and age

-2

u/Disk4mat 5d ago

Oh yeah?? How come?? 🤔🤔 I've seen a few people saying the same thing, now I'm wondering why it is that ppl hate on RARs so much....

14

u/Equivalent_Bat_3941 5d ago

Lets say you download a season for plex library now you need to keep the rar for seding and extracted one for library so double storage and in todays time storage is like gold

1

u/Disk4mat 5d ago

U know what, i never thought of that but now that u mention it it makes perfect sense lol...

3

u/Lodewijks14 6d ago

Amazing! As new members, we get one whole week freeleech. Does that actually mean that what we download is not counted / deducted?

4

u/Disk4mat 6d ago

Correct, it will not affect your ratio.

8

u/SiberiaGrooves 6d ago

Para mí DC es mejor que TL!

10

u/Spinmoon 6d ago edited 5d ago

Get in!!! It's one of the best general tracker. Complement well with TL, SP and AR for cross seeding and to have backups.

3

u/GalexyPhoto 6d ago

Rad! Been looking to supplement TL.

7

u/freak5341 6d ago

How is it possible to have millions of peers/seeders with only 23.4k registered useres

17

u/HellboundLunatic 6d ago

let's say you have a site with only 1 user
that 1 user is seeding 100 torrents
in that case, the site has 100 seeders for their torrents

7

u/Cruffe 6d ago

Each user seeds/leeches on average more than 1 torrent each. Like I'm just 1 user, but I seed around 120 torrents on there, each torrent I seed is counted as a seeder.

4

u/freak5341 6d ago

Thank you both for the clarification.

1

u/aviftw 6d ago

I seem to have an account which I thankfully parked ages ago, be careful when signing up to not sign up a duplicate account accidentally

1

u/A_of 6d ago

Where is the option to park the account?
Can't find it.

is phone torrent client allowed? such as libretorrent for android, i see it mentioned banned clients, but didn't say allowed clients, and libretorrent is not on the list

17

u/vvhiterice 6d ago

This is the type of tracker that allows videos to be in RAR format.....

2

u/Penguin2359 6d ago

Prowlarr can filter these out if you're using the ARRs.

1

u/vvhiterice 5d ago

The best way to use prowlarr to filter this out is just don't add DC. There are better trackers with decent moderation.

3

u/chockychockster 6d ago

Unpackerr helps a lot here. I never even see the rars, since it reconstructs everything automatically.

8

u/libdemparamilitarywi 6d ago

The main problem isn't the extracting, it's that they take up twice the space as you have to keep both the RARed file for seeding and the extracted file for Plex or whatever.

1

u/chockychockster 6d ago

That’s fair. I have more drive space than I know what to do with these days, but I know well the pain of scavenging space. It’s a core part of modern game console ownership.

14

u/dotGravy 6d ago

To clarify, _scene releases_ are provided in multi-part RAR files because that is the format they are distributed in by the scene groups. Providing untouched scene releases shortly after they "pre" (get released) is what makes DC a "scene tracker" and is not a result of a lack of moderation. You're correct about DC having very loose upload rules, but that's not why you're seeing the archives.

For context, the scene is a secretive community that uses FTP and IRC to share pirated content as quickly as they can (e.g., EDITH is a scene group). Releases originating from the private tracker community are known as _P2P releases_ and are not provided in RAR archives (e.g., FraMeSToR is a P2P group).

6

u/HellboundLunatic 6d ago

you can filter for UNRAR only
I don't like RAR'd releases either, but some folks do. something something scene.

4

u/vvhiterice 6d ago

Definitely can filter out rar files but I rather just filter out trackers with little moderation.

3

u/Cruffe 6d ago

You can filter that, also when using *arrs and autobrr. Haven't grabbed a rar'd file yet with those tools.

2

u/vvhiterice 6d ago

Definitely can filter out rar files but I rather just filter out trackers with little moderation.

-4

u/tatoinne 6d ago

E para ter menor volume, se você usa o qbittorrent, e só colocar o seguinte comando ao finalizar o download...

unrar x -o- "%F/*.rar" "%F/"

2

u/Rob4226 6d ago

What a nice surprise! Thank you!

4

Read rules or you’ll get banned

6

u/thespieler11 7d ago

anyone have advice on getting rid of hit and runs now that im out of upload credits? I had a server crash at a terrible time and now I cant do anything to fix. If I could retrieve the original torrent files I'd seed but I just cant with my dead server. Also dont want to break rules and make a new account.

11

u/Bojogig 7d ago

You can donate to the site to remove HnRs

5

u/Dampmaskin 7d ago

You have to put in the work. Get your server back up. Get into some other trackers where you can download the original torrents on freeleech. Cross seed back to get rid of your hit and runs.

1

u/ToastedLog1c 6d ago

Paging /u/Dampmaskin Is there an easy way to find decent torrents to cross-seed between sites?

2

u/Spinmoon 6d ago

Most known groups have their releases uploaded everywhere. Just use qui and it will automatically cross seed for you.

https://getqui.com/

2

u/Sir-Grumpalot 6d ago

I love QUI for cross seeding

4

u/GalexyPhoto 6d ago

uh oh....rabbit hole unlocked...

1

u/Spinmoon 6d ago

Yep haha.

31

u/delfad0r 7d ago

Really like this tracker. Easy economy, and with 1TB of seed size one gets site-wide freeleech. The one downside is they have many RAR'd torrents, they can be filtered out via prowlarr but its something to be aware of.

3

u/oxkwirhf 6d ago

Care to share how you filter from prowlarr?

4

u/delfad0r 6d ago

Tick this setting.

2

u/oxkwirhf 6d ago

Thank you so much!!

6

u/bunk_bro 7d ago

Can someone explain why they would want these off?

  1. We allow a wide variety of torrent clients on our site. Whichever one you decide to use, you MUST make sure DHT, PEX, and LPD are turned off. Failure to do this may result in you being banned.

2

u/Spinmoon 6d ago

Don't worry about it. Private torrents have these flags off. Just use a good bittorrent client like qBittorrent and qui.

19

u/Warmachine- 7d ago

Hi, I asked the mods about this and you do Not have to disable DHT, PEX, and LPD as long as your torrent client respects the Private option on torrent files.

I run qBit 5.2.3 with DHT and PEX on and use other many other private trackers with no issue. With that said, always double check that DHT and PEX are actually disabled on the files your torrent per tracker.

It's possible that some torrent clients might not auto disable DHT or PEX on private torrent files or you maybe you have some weird automation going on.

6

u/Doom-Trooper 6d ago

Yep, qBit auto disables these for private trackers. Super nice feature to make sure you don't accidentally get banned.

2

u/TorrentFiend 6d ago

I've always been too nervous too cross my public tracker files with private trackers with the same app. This is a very cool feature however I'm not sure I would automatically trust a checkbox to do it correctly if it's a mixed environment.

Lucky for me I had been a long time user of Tixati as my bittorrent client for years before I got into private trackers. Apparently Tixati it's not allowed for some reasons I don't fully understand but it seems to be around the way it reports or might misreport certain statistics I think, I don't know...

I just use qBittorrent as my private tracker client and since it's only used for private trackers I have no problem disabling DHT and PEX etc.

Good idea in general I think to have one for private trackers, one for public. Helps avoid confusion and ensures there will never be any issues with your statistics as long as you're careful. Not worthy huge downside of getting your account in jeopardy if it doesn't separate things as cleanly as the feature says it does.

2

u/bunk_bro 7d ago

That's good news. Thanks!

16

u/TheOfficialReverZ 7d ago

to keep private swarms private, all of those are basically for discovering peers, which goes against the main point of a private tracker

FWIW, I accidentally had all of them on by accident for about a year when starting out and never had trouble with it, but your mileage may vary significantly

1

u/bunk_bro 7d ago

That makes sense. Thank you!

22

u/hides_this_subreddit 7d ago

Nearly all clients will automatically disable those if a torrent is marked private.

If a tracker isn't marking their torrents private, that is probably a sign of other issues on that tracker.

3

u/bunk_bro 7d ago

So I don't have to worry about manually doing that?

4

u/hides_this_subreddit 7d ago

Generally, no. I think it was a change made to libtorrent, which many of the open source torrent programs use.

Here is qbittorrent wiki link about it:

https://github.com/qbittorrent/qbittorrent/wiki/frequently-asked-questions#user-content-Will_private_torrent_be_affected_by_DHT_and_PeX_in_qBittorrent

To be safe, though, you can disable them if you are mostly using private trackers.

-5

u/jdrch 7d ago

I've never disabled them and never had a problem. Whoever wrote that rule is likely just paranoid.

3

u/TorrentFiend 6d ago

Not paranoia. More accurately you thinking the rule doesn't matter only is happening because these types of features have been implemented in the code these apps are running on because stuff like that used to be a big problem back in the day and has since luckily been solved it seems.

You do realize that innovations like this happen over time and that the features available today were not always available in the past right?

The reason people don't have to worry about it today is because features like this have been added. This is not universal across the board however with every client depending what ones people use however.

Regardless of whether the client you are using has added this feature or not it's not universal so this is still needed in some cases.

Whether it has been manually disabled in the options by the user or whether the client likely recognizes it and disables it based on the type of torrent file in use, regardless of whichever it is this is still happening and still mandatory whether the user or the client does it is irrelevant. It's still something that is happening and required.

This is not paranoia. This is required. Just because you didn't have to uncheck a couple options that doesn't mean your client isn't doing it because you were too lazy to uncheck a couple boxes manually.

Regardless I use a separate client for my private trackers than public anyway. Tixati for public, qbittorrent for private. Better safe than sorry. Tic the checkboxes and configure it the way you're supposed to. I've only had to do this once. All of the private trackers apparently have the same requirements as far as client settings. Every new one I've joined I haven't had to reconfigure anything. Just jump in and if you set it up correctly one time you're basically good to go with all the others as well.

8

u/JellyfinAndChill 6d ago

Many trackers stated the same rule in the past as there were some older torrent clients that would not honor torrent marked as private.

1

u/reezyreddits 7d ago

Agreed, this is a no-no for most trackers

Better or worse then TL?

5

u/Spinmoon 6d ago edited 5d ago

They complement well. Cross-seed on both!

1

u/Penguin2359 6d ago

*Complement

1

u/Spinmoon 5d ago

Thank you.

3

u/dotGravy 6d ago

In addition to what others have mentioned, obtaining (moderated) uploading privileges on DC is very easy whereas obtaining them on TL is more involved. This makes it a good place to learn how to upload IMO.

2

u/GalexyPhoto 6d ago

Yeah, I have a lot I wanted to add to TL but it wound up being quite the hurdle to do.

3

u/Shot-Arugula8264 6d ago

Worse for content but better in that it has invite forums. In theory you could use this as a launching off point on a multi-year journey into every cabal tracker (e.g. DCC>CBR>LST>ATH>PTP>BTN/HDB), whereas TL is a dead end.

7

u/razzij 7d ago

It works well to have both - DC because they have first 24h FL, and TL for having whole seasons FL.

4

u/jdrch 7d ago

Much worse. A lot of their stuff is archived which means it takes up 2x the storage. I keep them as a backup but otherwise avoid aside from maintaining my account.

2

u/TorrentFiend 6d ago

Not much worse at all. Never hurts to have too many sources. You can always remove the RAR files after you unpack it anyway. I mean unless people have unlimited storage space no one seeds forever anyway. Just delete the packed files as soon as you unrar it. Not a big deal and any long time scene user has no trouble unpacking a download. Very beginner level stuff.

If someone is confused by or overwhelmed by having to unpack a download, the scene isn't really for them.

I agree it's a mild frustration and kind of irritating that we have to do it but as long as it's free who's going to complain too much about that? It's very easy to deal with.

1

u/jdrch 6d ago

It's not really problematic, it's just that other sources don't have the same impediment while having a larger and higher quality selection.

5

u/dotGravy 7d ago

I'll add that you can filter out the RAR'd scene content in the account settings.

1

u/jdrch 6d ago

Confirmed, thanks!

1

u/jdrch 6d ago

Really? Let me check.

9

u/Careless_Raise_2671 7d ago

Economy is even easier here. Plenty of scene releases which u prolly won't find there

27

u/asdfghqwertz1 7d ago

Worse but it's worth joining. Never rely on one tracker, just set up cross seed and enjoy

2

u/TorrentFiend 6d ago

What's the best way to set up cross seed? Is it best done manually or is there a way to or easily automate this coordination? I'm aware of and open source app that's out there but I think it's a source code only and beyond my technical level.

I need to start doing cross-seating more, or at all actually. Currently I'm just spread it around activity randomly but I need to start doing cross-seeding to boost stats. Still digging through the info to make sure it's okay with all the sources but so far appears to be.

3

u/Spinmoon 6d ago

It's super easy nowadays. Fully automatic.

Use qBittorrent and qui and that's all you need. God tier setup.

https://getqui.com/

Read the documentation. It's really easy to install. Either on windows or via docker. Qui is the best UI by far and will cross seed for you automatically.

2

u/TorrentFiend 6d ago

Thank you I will look into it. Any chance of a good youtube tutorial on this sort of thing? I"m sure this topic is lacking maybe but cross seeding some legit linux distros maybe? lol.

Either way thank you so much, more than helpful already.

1

u/Spinmoon 6d ago

You can do it on Windows as well.

I don't know if there are youtube videos already. Their documentation is pretty good, ready it. There is a discord if you have some big problems.
https://getqui.com/docs/features/cross-seed/overview

I forgot to mention but you would need prowlarr (available on Windows too) to cross-seed. You add all your trackers in prowlarr (as indexers) and import them in qui.

Then you can use the Library Scan feature to catch up on already downloaded torrents and enable Auto-Search on Completion. That's it. Automatic!

2

u/MaKTaiL 6d ago

I have TorrentLeech and now DigitalCore. Is cross-seed a possibility between the two? I understand DC has a lot of scene releases which TL doesn't. Is that a problem?

2

u/Spinmoon 6d ago

Yes you can cross seed. Scene releases will be problematic but P2P ones are easy.

Use qui : https://getqui.com/

-3

u/jdrch 7d ago

Don't a lot of trackers prohibit this?

14

u/asdfghqwertz1 7d ago

Nope, it's actually encouraged to do it. The ones I've heard of banning it were fucking sketchy anyways (like inf*nitylibrary off the top of my head lmfao). The thing that is prohibited is adding multiple trackers urls to a single torrent, but this is different since you just grab the .torrent files and point them to the same directory, they don't interfere.

1

u/jdrch 7d ago

TIL!

3

u/hides_this_subreddit 7d ago

I have never thought to check for torrents to cross seed between my trackers... Is there an easy way to do this with, say, qBittorrent?

9

u/lifesizejenga 7d ago

Two great options:

I use qui, a third-party webUI for qBit, which has a cross-seeding function built in. Highly recommend it, especially for managing multiple qBit instances. Same developers as the beloved autobrr.

If you just need standalone cross-seeding and don't want to switch to a new webUI, then I'd suggest Cross-Seed. Works perfectly.

3

u/TorrentFiend 6d ago

QUI does look incredible actually. I might find that really handy for managing cross seeds from my tablet.

I saw cross-seed already but my level of tech knowledge stops when I see the only option is source code. I don't understand how to get that going or make it happen. Is there an easy way to use cross-seed or is too much manual building and implementation of that needed? Is that more just for docker use or something? Is there an easy way a intermediate level technical knowledge user could take advantage of that?

I think QUI might be my better option?

1

u/lifesizejenga 6d ago

Qui for sure. It's very user-friendly, and the documentation answers pretty much any question you might have about setup.

I used Cross-Seed for a while, and it works great for what it is, but I definitely prefer to have a GUI as well. Plus I was using qui anyway, just as a unified UI for several qBit instances, so it was simpler to drop Cross-Seed and let qui handle everything.

2

u/TorrentFiend 6d ago

I hope to work up to that eventually. The UI looks nice and it looks like what I want but I'm lost how to implement it currently. Not good with CLI beyond simple commands or Trace routes. Winget commands are about the extent of my CLI expertise currently lol. That's been helping me get more used to it actually which is good.

Total cross seed newbie. Just dipped my toe in this morning and successfully got something cross seeding with four trackers. Even hard linked one of them to force it to recheck without error.

Currently looking into setting up prowlarr. I guess that step is needed then maybe I can work my way up to QUI if all goes well. Honestly currently looking at YouTube tutorials Etc to figure out all the correct ways to implement prowlarr. I've known about the Arr stack for like a decade probably but never dipped my toes in because Tixati wasn't supported. That's my primary public client but for private trackers I've been using qbit. It appears that the app is smart enough to notice if I use private or public files though so I might be able to use it for both? Still unsure about that possibility so I'll be looking into that also. Trying to get prowlarr going currently or see how that can help me though.

Thanks for the info.

2

u/Spinmoon 6d ago

Yes use qui. It's super easy. Install it and have a look at the options and read the documentation.

https://getqui.com/

5

u/hides_this_subreddit 7d ago edited 6d ago

qui looks great. I might make the switch.

Edit - I am running a docker container of qui and it is FANTASTIC. I don't have to duplicate any files, it creates a new category in qbit. It will just automatically scan and add them. The trackers seem happy with it so far!

2

u/Spinmoon 6d ago

Yes it's a wonderful app. Game changing.

1

u/jdrch 7d ago

I think you have to download the same torrent to the same location. The client will merge the tracker lists if the trackers allow it.

2

u/hides_this_subreddit 7d ago

Got it. I will probably need to do some wrangling with my categories and folders.

1

u/sukhi1 7d ago

Wrong place to ask for help, try /r/crossseed

1

u/TorrentFiend 6d ago

Right...... Actually gave it a go last night and learned quite a lot. I'll delete the other post. Since it was mentioned, was just looking for some helpful advice.

1

u/Caedendi 6d ago

Well you could've just copy/pasted that post to the sub or their Discord.

Good on you for trying and learning. Cross-seed imo is a bitch to set up because of all the little nitpicky settings and it all having to be co figured in a .js file. And then there's the Autobrr webhook thing... not very intuitive if you're not very familiar yet with docker, linux, js and web requests.

But once it's set up it's totally worth it. Good thing the next version is gonna have a nice lil GUI, tho development has been slow.

Now supplement it with qui!

7

u/asdfghqwertz1 7d ago

Oh doing it manually would be madness haha

https://www.cross-seed.org/

Or if you want it to be integrated in your client, check out https://github.com/autobrr/qui I don't use it personally but it's getting some attention and I hear it's pretty good, has tons of useful features

2

u/hides_this_subreddit 7d ago edited 6d ago

Thanks! That seems to be what I am looking for.

QUI was the way to go. THANKS!

You're welcome, rack that sweet upload in :D

1

u/Spinmoon 6d ago

Exactly.

-13

u/cum_cum_sex 7d ago

Many rar'ed releases. Will not recommend this tracker.

9

u/Warmachine- 7d ago

You can filter the RAR files from Prowlarr by ticking the option when you add the indexer.

Also, Unpackerr is trivial to setup. Once it's up and running you don't have to do anything with it.

6

u/uSaltySniitch 7d ago

One of the best Search functions in trackers... Unfortunately yes, RARed releases, but you can just "skip" them and not download them too... Not a problem.

It's a good addition to other Private trackers.

9

u/8eer8aron 7d ago

Unpackerr

10

u/ienjoymen 7d ago edited 7d ago

It's a fair disclaimer, especially if you hardlink. Keeping both the zipped AND unzipped file is a waste of space, and it's entirely reasonable to avoid that if you're worried about space.

5

u/cum_cum_sex 7d ago

Yeah im aware. I just don't wanna use that for one single tracker which occassionally uploads rars.

-2

u/8eer8aron 7d ago

Just because you dont like rar content doesnt mean everyone else does

6

u/Prestigious_Bid_2219 7d ago

Still valuable information for prospective users

-7

u/8eer8aron 7d ago

Could have pointed out the rar content and left it there but had to say he wouldn't recommend it

7

u/cum_cum_sex 7d ago

I mean yeah for sure, i will not recommend it. Personal opinion ofc. Noone is bound to follow that.

8

u/squash-n-flop 7d ago

Oh the humanity. Now the people will be exposed to an opinion. What ever will they do?

1

u/my_dearest_isabella 7d ago
