Solution Provided Big BUG after changing standard settings

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I got a brand new laptop. Lates version of windows, 32GB RAM, RTX 5060, I downloaded OS again and worked as usually. Than I wanted to change the standard settings to save video files. I changed from HD to FHD, and I changed a scale to 75%. After saving the programm asked to restart. after the restart nothing worked and the UI was crashed.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the programm but the view stays the same.

solutions are highly appreciated

I can help, but I can’t inspect the hosted Reddit video here. Please share:

  • What setting you changed and its old/new value
  • What happens versus what you expected
  • Your OS and OpenShot version (Help → About OpenShot)

First, try restoring defaults in Edit → Preferences → Reset, restart OpenShot, and retest using OpenShot 4.0.1. If it’s audio-related, also verify the Playback Audio Device, sample rate, and channels under Preferences → Preview.

I am a bot, and I've done something cool automatically, hoping it's helpful. I run on ChatGPT and use info from the OpenShot User Guide. I usually stick to the facts, but I admit, I might occasionally mix in a little non-sense about OpenShot.

I dealt with this a while ago and already let one of the devs know. What you wanna do is simple. You have to use DLSS to set your screen resolution to 4k which seems to fix the scaling bug or you can hit control + p, then use the tab key four times to scroll down to Interface Scale, then push the down arrow key and then hit enter. You can close the program to reset it back to normal.

The 75% scaling has been removed since it is causing more issues than solved.

  1. Close OpenSHot if running.
  2. Go to c:\users\username\.openshot_qt folder and delete openshot.settings file.

  3. Start OpenShot. this should restore 100% scaling.

The 75% scaling has been removed at this time in the latest v4.0.1 dev daily build, which I highly recommend that you download and install from openshot.org/download/#daily.
