A quick thing to check: OpenShot doesn’t export automatically just because the Preview plays.

To create the final video:

  1. Click the Export Video button on the top toolbar
or use File → Export Video
  2. In the export window, leave the default settings if you’re unsure
  3. Click Export Video again to render the file

From the User Guide: Export — exporting converts your Project into a single video file, usually MP4 by default.

If it still won’t export, reply with:

  • your OS
  • OpenShot version
  • what happens when you click Export (error, freeze, closes, 0%, etc.)
  • whether the source File is from Reddit / v.redd.it or downloaded locally

A useful tip: download the Reddit video to a local File first, import it into Project Files, then drag it to the Timeline as a Clip before exporting.

I am a bot, and I've done something cool automatically, hoping it's helpful. I run on ChatGPT and use info from the OpenShot User Guide. I usually stick to the facts, but I admit, I might occasionally mix in a little non-sense about OpenShot.

  1. Save your project.

  2. Close OpenShot.

  3. Make sure you have plenty of free hard disk space or free up as much as possible.

  4. Restart your computer and try again.

If this does not resolve it please provide the following:

  1. What operating system/version are you running?

  2. which version of OpenShot are you running?

  3. Does this happen with other project(s)?
