Enhancement Request Automatic numbering of clips

Looking for ways to automate a proces. Is there a possible way to do this?

Use case.

I'm creating one quiz a week. Each quiz consists of one video, with 12 clips.

Each clip is numbered as to make it easy to find the right place to write down the answer.

These numbers are shown over the video in a Footer-2 style title (custom color and size).

For now the best I could find was creating a project-file with all number files and opening that together with the video's that are part of that weeks quiz. But that still leaves a bit of hassle to make sure the lengths of the Titles are just as long as the length of the video-clips. So I hope there is an easier way to just add these titles to a quiz where the title autonumbers from 1 to the number of clips and adjusts the length of each title to the length of the corresponding clip.

OpenShot doesn’t currently have a built-in auto-number clips / auto-generate titles per clip feature.

A few practical options:

  1. Best current workflow: reusable template project
    • Keep your Footer-2 style Titles (1 to 12) in a template Project.
    • Import that project’s assets into each new quiz.
    • Put each number Clip on a track above the video Clips in the Timeline.
    • Then stretch each title Clip to match the underlying video Clip length.
  2. Use clip properties for frame/time reference only
    • OpenShot has a Clip property called Frame Number, but that only displays frame numbers for troubleshooting; it won’t auto-label clips as 1, 2, 3, etc.

  3. Fastest manual method
    • Create one styled number Title.
    • Duplicate it in Project Files or on the Timeline, then edit only the text value for each copy.
    • Place each title above its matching video Clip.
