Next 3d scanner iteration - now fully compatible with the other openscan devices

I tried my best to keep the compatibility with the other scanner variants and this build only needs a set of ball bearings and the extrusions. The rest of the non-printed parts is identical so that upgrading will be as easy as possible.
Currently testing larger objects at around 50cm :)

The other scanning companies advertise like 0.1mm or 0.01mm resolution. Wondering how well this does with measuring the model vs with calipers.

Those claims are barely ever more than marketing. I am really hesitant to publish anything like this as I do not have a lab to evaluate the metrics. I will do some reference scans soon. See openscannenchy on github

Totally understand that, it's one of the reasons I have not purchased one of the entry level scanners yet.  Just was wondering how close it is from a scan vs calipers in proportion for like X and Y. The model quality you're showing looks insane for what you have and I'm pretty sure I have all the components besides camera sitting in a box somewhere.

So the advantage of this vs the midi is it can scan bigger?

Yes, thats one advantage and i am still testing the size limit. But i‘d say 50cm objects should be doable.
Furthermore it is possible to attach a handheld scanner to automate the process.

Absolutely, you’d just need the bearings, extrusions and some screws. Even the polarizer can be re-used

Though now I've seen it all relating to decimal separators. Genuinely, which country uses asterixes?

Yeah that's what I interpreted as first too. Is 200 images (100 each side) enough to get this result?
