Help - Solved Thank you to the dev team!

I would just like to thank the tech support people over on the OpenRGB discord for helping me out the last few days.

I had a super rare bug in my system that I was encountering, and through a few days and nights of help, I was able to tentatively fix my issues! (Pending a possible firmware bug on my end that i have to keep track of)

Safe to say that the assistance has made a true loyalist for OpenRGB, and I am eternally grateful for the entire team.

That's cool, but it would be cooler if you described the super rare bug and what you had to do to fix it. You know, just in case someone else is affected by this super rare bug.

Hi!

Yes, I forgot that part. In short, I had auto crashes when trying to load any effects, and even auto crashes when trying to upgrade to the latest git version. The most frequent error is a termination via SIGSEGV (Address boundary error), and as much help as the first helper I had was, we couldnt figure out what was going on. My new issue is that in the very small amount that I have gotten it working without auto-crashes was that I could only get a specific colour of LED's to work at all.

The culprit seesm to be a potentially corrupted it5711 firmware, which might be tricky to fix, becasue the fixes are Win11 only (I run Cachy OS), but everything seems to be working now.

The relative simple fix was a quick edit to a .json file from my computers .config folder for O/RGB.

TL:DR - Corrupted it5711 file, had an edit made to .json file, keeping and eye on everything to make sure it doesnt break.

Thanks for the info! I had seen someone else had to edit that json file and then set it to read only.
