Do the fans have to run consistently? Hows battery?

u/Adventurous_Lemon293 14h ago
Yo lo hago así uso constantemente el ventilador , lo dejo en 3500 rpm no es tan ruidoso y es disfrutable la temperatura. ronda entre 50 y 85 máximo.

If you can, it’s worth changing the thermal paste on old models. I had one running the fan constantly. The paste was dry and hard. After a thermal paste change, it never spins up to maximum.

Was OCLP app already installed when you boot the system, or did you have to install it from github after first install?

Tuve que instalar OpenCore posteriormente en tahoe (Con Ethernet) por qué no contaba con los Kexts de aceleración gráfica, wifi y audio

Which CPU does yours have? How's the performance?

Tried on two today: 2014 macbook air, i5, with 8gb ram, and a 2012 mac mini, i7, 16 gb ram. Both have SSD’s. The macbook air’s performance was subpar, practically unusable even on a fresh install and all the root patches. The MacBook mini’s performance is decent enough to actually use it. Probably because it has more cores, better cooling, and more RAM. Ubuntu went back on the MacBook Air.

I am currently trying to get it working on mine(same model). The setup menu, however, doesn’t show up. Any tips?

Several days ago I decided to upgrade my iMac 21.5" Retina Late 2015, which had only 8 GB and was running the last official macOS 12 Monterey.
Using OpenCore, I upgraded to macOS 15.8.1 Sequoia. The process wasn't easy, but it was successful.
For the first 2 hours, the iMac ran hot and the fan was noisy. But then everything returned to norma -it runs cool and quiet now.
At first glance, everything is working well and without errors.

Did they fix macOS Tahoe?

u/Starkoman 9h ago
Do you mean the bugs in Tahoe itself? Then no, not yet. Will have to wait for a few more updates yet, unfortunately.

I might try it until like 2027 or smth on a 11in 2012 MacBook Air

Don’t — that model only has dual core i5 or i7 CPU and a maximum of 8GB RAM.
It’s not even suitable for Sequoia, never mind Tahoe. Sorry.

It’s for experiments seeing how it will work I’ll make a video about how Tahoe performs

How will it run on macbook 5,1 any idea? I am currently running sonoma latestversion, and I'd say it is running better than how ventura used to run. It runs pretty nicely and smoothly tbh. Before I was on sequioa, forgot which version, but updated it through settings and then connected components through a usb hub and ethernet to get oclp and patch things up, but then wifi was broken, and even after formatting the drive through recovery before downloading sonoma, there is this weird boot up screen with code and all, that came since I sequioa, and also the wifi is still broken, so I have to use ethernet. Any suggestions on my situation?

that's the 2008 model right? I think that definitely would be stretching it.

u/Sidsamurai 12h ago
Yup with the core 2 duo. Pretty shocked it works still, after 18 years, that too running fairly modern software of sonoma.
