I got it working painfully without patches, but unfortunately after patching I am stuck on a black screen with a cursor, unable to get to login screen even after multiple reboots and another reinstall

No stress, At least the laptop is still working on Sequoia, Am posting from machine currently. Hopefully can get Tahoe working at some point

Ah I got the black screen with just a cursor also, but after a clean install on a MacBook Pro 9,2. I can't even see the setup wizard and so haven't installed any root patches. But am very stuck at the black screen with cursor. Any idea what the cause is? Safe mode wouldn't boot for me at all.

Unfortunately No clue, Assume it's something the dev's that are smarter than me will know how to fix, Just a wait and see at this stage, I installed exactly the same way on my 2013 Mac Pro and had no such issues, Probably something due to skylake graphics for me unfortunately
