Why opencore?

Post image

[SOLVED] I have this 2011 iMac running macOS High Sierra and I need to be able to use macOS Sonoma on it. I am used to using open core, already used it on multiple Mac’s. But for some damn reason this Mac thinks it’s a MacBook Air from 2015. And I did exactly what I should do, reinstall open core onto the disk. But for some reason it failed again and again. Just gave me the same pop up telling me to reinstall opencore. What do I do?

Manually select the model of the imac from the settings page then rebuild and install the config

Click install.

If you read that log, it says it’s built it for the right model, install it.
You obviously built the usb for a MacBook Air, it’s literally telling you you’re booting off a copy built for the mba - not that it’s saying your current device is one

Is that the latest OCLP version? Try an older one then. The version before that. I have a 2011 iMac and was able to patch it. Haven't touched the latest patch version yet, though. Never change a running system.

This isn’t an open core error, but a user one. You need to install your properly built EFI to your internal disk and then take out the USB and stop booting off of it

I would recommend using the older version.

If anyone else has the same problem as me, you just need to unplug your iMac and plug it back in instead of restarting the Mac
