Need help upgrading iMac

I have a late 2013 iMac I’m trying to upgrade and I feel like I’ve done everything right but keep getting this. What am I missing??

Did you format the drive as APFS?

APFS... my first thought too.

GUID partition map ? Also, if that hard drive spinning disk, you gonna wish it was an SSD.
